I've been missing in action for ages - apologies to all, I'm about to start listening again too.
For ages, I'd been considering a move away from my trusty Boss BR1600 on which I've recorded and mixed nearly everything…

So I got me a new geetar the other week.
Named her Lala, obviously. Seemed kind of appropriate - she wears a faded gold dress and is full of chunes and mischiefs.
This is our first effort together. It was meant…
So I was locked in the broom-cupboard, checking out some old songs that need recording.
I'd just picked one and then suddenly this thing came out of nowehere. It started with one of those guitarist doodles that other musicians love so much…

Now here's a bit of an oldie - the second song I ever wrote. In... 1978!
I think I played it once, or maybe twice, at school assemblies. My musical peers and colleagues back then dismissed it as corny/rancid pop music…

I found this one while I was digging through the shoe-box for the 1994 songs. Apparently I wrote it on 10th November 1995.
Foolishly, I thought it would only take a week or so to record... I was originally expecting…

And here's another song from 1994, with a sparkling new "Andrew Russe Band" arrangement fresh from the broom-cupboard.
Like most of my songs, it was written with an acoustic guitar, a pen, and an A4 pad. The ones…

This is great! What starts out as a super solid guitar riff turns out to be the start of an inventive arrangement and tasty guitar playing. Your voice is interesting too, and made better by the fact that you're clearly feeling it!

Lyrics:
Donโt you bow, to kings and queens
Rise above, everything
If the devil beckons, and the angels sing
Donโt listen to, anything
The time has come, to raise your hands
Cโmon everybody, take a stand
Higher, Higher, Higher, Higher…
Jeb Holmes - guitar, Barry Canipe - bass, James Shelton - sax, Matt Williams - organ, Pat Holmes - drums. Recorded in the summer of 2002, it was blazing hot in Raleigh the week we were there. Celebrated Jeb's 15th birthday during recording.

This is the 45th song posted for 50/90, but it is really the 50th song to be worked on. Somehow it seems fitting to close off the festivities with a sappy love song that swings a bit.
Of all the crap I've written this summer, this is the…
Not quite sure what I was going for musically with this one. It was just a couple of off the top of the head ideas. Not a lot of thought or planning. The lyrics are an Florida Man story about a guy who called 9-1-1 to ask for a ride to the…
This is the 47th 50/90 song posted, but it was the 49th idea. I figured one last head banger before I was done. The lyrics are supposed to be political without really trying to pick a side. Eh.
The guitars are all ES-335
how do we handle…
Your Welcome :)
Enjoy!
We were so young, we were too vain
Dance in the dark, sing in the rain
Time on our hands, hope in our hearts
We were talking, passing strangers
Moments caught across an empty room
Wasted whispers, faded secrets…
DEAR PEGGY
Dear Peggy,I thot you'd like to know
That blue tile in our bathroom you said would have to go
I replaced with the slate that we bought at Home Depot
mmmmm mmmmm
Dear Peggy, The heat has killed the lawn
And water is so expensive…
I'm playing catch-up and, aww, this is wonderful. So sad but not mawkish or depressing (I have something a bit like it that I gave up trying to record a while back - this gives me hope, I might try mine again).
Recorded this pretty quickly... 2 acoustic tracks(cheapo garage sale yamaha recorded with a sure 58 duck taped to my table because I forgot my microphone stand at practice),hohner harmonica, midi bass (kontakt) and addictive drums, vocals sure…
HANDS UP DON'T SHOOT
Don't you wear a hoodie -- No walking in the street
Armed with bags of Skittles -- There's killers on the beat
Hands up in the day time -- And never out at night
Don't be selling menthols -- No breaking up a fight

Apologies to George but I love the song. Its shocking to find out that Paul and John rejected it until George dragged Eric to the studio one day. Imagine the White Album without this...
no effects of any type on this for good or ill.
The verse and the chorus are pretty much the same thing except the chorus is louder and heavier. I consider that a gimmick and a bit of a cheat, but I very often really like the way it works out. Shoot me.
The lyrics are about being afraid…
Comments on Andrew Russe's stuff
I love your music. You never disappoint. Always makes me happy to hear your music. Awesome.
'ello Stranger, that's a real piece of class, A + + + from me.
Great song, vocals, and production!
Very nice work, I love the quality in your voice.
Welcome back sir! Really nice song, instrumentation, and super sound quality even through the olโ ear buds!! ๐๐๐ถ๐ถ๐
Another beauty from house of Russe well worth the wait
Great piece.
You had me at, "If I back off and shut my mouth..." Know exactly where you are. So afraid the answer is, "No."
Sounds like a 50s Buddy Holly era song. Very sweet sentiment. And, yes, I can dance to it.
Great characterization. Great kick drum sound.
WoW! Rock me, dude! Love the imagery.
Genius lyrics !
Love this !
Oosh.
*double take*
Seems your peers and colleagues were very mistaken. Great job. acoustic57
Wowza! Kudos to the nice work from the man behind the curtain :) acoustic57

Like it :) It helps that it's one of my favourite songs... (So it can't be that rough - I'd have been going "wot's he done to it"!)
Did I miss this? Love it.
Only two tracks? Was anything else recorded? Please post it if there was...
Oh good grief!! Stunningly wonderful stuff.
Aww, this is fabulous. Love it. Makes me think "Duane" ... HUGE smile on my face.
Those eight bars are pretty damn good! And I'm loving the 335.
Fine guitaring. Do you reckon they'll deliver take-away as well?!
Another FDR goodie.
Rocking :)
Don't know or remember the original, but I was there... this takes me right back! Nice one.
Wow. Just, wow...

I started with "like it", but it really grew on me through the track - love it.
Like it. Love the lyrics.
And this one too, like it :)
That works in a strangely hypnotic kind of way. Nice one.
Cool version! Liking the vocals.
One of my favourite songs too. Nice version.
Oh good grief. Fabulous sound and playing. I'm getting used to this 1 minute business as well (just!)
Well that works! :)
