Now That You're Sleeping
Acoustic love song. Written and recorded between Christmas 2010 and the New Year.
I’d just finished recording Elizabeth’s Room and was tooling up to record a pop-rock song when this little beast popped out of nowhere, almost perfectly formed in the time it took to sing it a couple of times… so I cleared the decks, polished it up a bit and recorded it.
For the lady in the room adjoining this one :-)
Now That You’re Sleeping - A A J Russe
Now that you’re sleeping
Now that you’re dreaming
Now that you’re happy again
I can rest easy
Stop chasing shadows
Now I know it’s not the end
All that I wanted
And all that I needed
Everything I could be
All of it’s tied up in how much I love you
And how much you mean to me
I was waiting for someone to tell me
Waiting for someone to say
That it’s nowhere near being over
That somehow you’d want me to stay
Now watching you sleeping
Watching you breathing
Holding your terrors at bay
I wish I could reach you
I wish you could hold me
I wish you could hear what I say
I was waiting here in the darkness
Waiting for somebody’s hand
For someone who thinks it’s just started
Someone who might understand
All that I wanted
And all that I needed
Everything I could be
All of it’s tied up in how much I love you
And how much you love me

This is one of the most beautiful songs I've ever heard. Simple yet brilliant, laid-back yet rich and bold. Petite and powerful. You've a rare gift, a special talent. You successfully and gorgeously pulled-off recording a lullaby for adults and lovers!
Brilliant...I can here this in a movie if you get my drift? Reminds me of Cat Stevens.
I've been listening to your selections, and I like the music very much. I also find your lyrics most intriguing. Will be back to listen again. ER
Haven't listened to this wonderful song in a while although I have it on my mp3 player (like all your other songs too). Great to hear this beauty again.
