Sleeping With The Ghost (OLD MIX)

THIS IS THE OLD YEURGH MIX - THERE IS ANOTHER ONE HIGHER UP THE LIST NOW, FULLY LOVED BY AR. THIS ONE IS LEFT HERE AS A MONUMENT TO SOMETHING OR OTHER (AND IN CASE YOU PREFER IT)

Acoustic ghost story. Recorded 2010.

Easter 2010 I decided to get the Boss BR1600CD to go with my Boss MBR.

After a quick and crazy demo, this was the first serious thing I recorded on it. It’s a song I wrote back in the mid 90s and have always been extremely fond of.

I over-cooked the top-end on the lead vocal unfortunately… One day I’ll go back and remix it!

Sleeping With The Ghost - A A J Russe

On a wide wooden stair
Cleaned with great care
I asked you to leave me alone
You follow me still
Take no note of my ill
And promise me pleasures unknown
And what of the days I spend dreaming
The nights I must wander awake
Why can’t you see I’m still grieving
Your offer of pleasure is late

With time necessarily
Unbearably heavily
Weighing on me as it does
I see you each night
Your troubles are light
I see no red stain on your glove
But what of the child that I married
What of the burden I bear
And what of the son that she carried
Both lost on this same wooden stair
What of the son that she carried
Both lost on this same wooden stair

It seems to me
That centuries
Of grieving
And asking
Forgiveness of she
Have not
In any way
Prepared me
To lay with someone
Of your century

So why can’t you see I’m still grieving
I’ll not rest ’til she forgives me

Hmm, one that I missed at both ends - Love it! The mix is well beyond my pale ears. Sounds perfect to me! Clean even on PC speakers. Oh, and a fab well crafted tune! Love the spooky "Ahhhs". That will get me every time!!

Cheers folks :) This one is (out of what I've managed to record so far) actually my favourite AR song. I am hopefully about to post, hopefully today, a remix of it - the mess-up on the EQ has always p1ssed me off so much. For me this version isn't anything like it should have been. What I've got sat upstairs on the desk waiting for me, same performances, is a lot closer... But, that's just me, so I'm gonna leave this one here in case anyone prefers this approach (and I've got various links pointing at it that I can't be bothered to find and sort out!! lol)

I wish i could sing like that...damn...those harmonies are bad ass...your music is much more than a song. It seems locked into almost a epic tale..

!!! Oh heavens...unbelievably sad. The production and performance are polished and professional but, ouch, my heart.

Andy... came over from the songcrafters site... Man you got a killer voice. Your production is out of this world. Lyrics are spot on. I can't even put a comparison to your style... very unique. Great music... thanks for turning me on to you jukebox. V/R tod

OH my, I was attracted by the title of the song, thinking to find something scary, but how I am mistaken, because this is a Beauty in all ways, although sad story, but even the lyrics have a wave in it, that is so beautiful, not to talk about the great musical arrangement and the way you sing it! Wonderful!!!

Another wonderful track , I still think I can Here shades of Roy Harper in your music , and in my book that is a good thing , that isn't taking anything away from your songwriting , you are still very original Rob
