After writing this song about our newly adopted dog, I asked Kavin if he like to play some slide guitar, knowing that he would come up with something terrific… I just had no idea how terrific.

Bandit rides in the back of my truck
A big ol’ shepherd mix living on luck
Rescued from a shelter in Memphis, Tennessee
Lets the kids climb on him all night and day
Hell, all he ever wants to do is play
Funny, now I say it, that sounds an awful lot like me

He ain’t no showdog, wouldn’t be much good for breeding
I can tell he sure is grateful for the home that he’d been needing

Bandit rides in the back of my truck
Ever since Good Friday when I picked him up
From a night spent in a cage to daytime riding free
Looking past the tailgate back at Memphis, Tennessee

Playful when he’s running, peaceful when he’s sleeping
He’ll never know how close he came to never knowing freedom

He might have been abandoned, he might have lost his way
Life doesn’t always go the way you planned
Thank God I was driving through Memphis on Good Friday
Don’t we all deserve a second chance
