An experiment with quarter tone tuning.
I tuned my guitar: low E (normal tuning)
A (quarter step up)
D (normal tuning)
G (quarter step down)
B (normal tuning)
high E (tuned D then quarter step down)
thanks very much, if it weren't for alonetone, I might not think of myself the same way. ImprovFriday promises to be another grreat creative outlet and seems to go hand in hand with AT.
what did you use to get these sounds, are these all analogue?
i am particularly interested in the sound that comes in around 1:10, it is high end, sounds like string being plucked and recorded through a narrow tube. what is that, the phase on it is really interesting.

A little Christmas present to everyone. A little symphonic, some chill, then a little hip and hop to boot! Let me know!!!
In the meantime ... I wish everyone in Alonetone Land a very Happy and Merry Christmas.
Well first of all it's late. I wanted to have this up on the 21st. to mark the Mayan Time Shift, but with work and picking at parts of the music.Changed the title. It's a strange piece,it poured out of me and I picked at it. Tell me what you think.
This is a piece in a microtonal tuning - but sounds very much like pentatonic in "normal" 12 equal tuning to my ears. But I work in microtonal tunings all the time and may be biased.
How "in tune" does this sound to you?
Drones are nothing new. But I decided it was time to seriously explore them.
For those interested in how these things develop. The drone was developed on my looper pedal by layering guitar sounds that were processed by uPOG and Freeze pedals…
Draft (in kitchen sink mode, still) of a track from "Figgle Your Winger" eta 2012... a sprawling tone-art-poem sometimes in 5/8 meter. Some synth parts created on iPhone with Synthpond.

Nicely assembled, pastoral shifting moods.
Most of the notes are on pitch but some are maybe a few cents flat? I agree with Sister.
Lonely, desolate sounds. Thanks for the in-depth. Apparently I need a freeze pedal.
This has a very native American flute sound to it. Nice.
