Instead of laying out patterns into sections into song arrangements I have been recording myself raw improved live jamming on tunes and exporting those recordings. I found I was getting blocked in 8 second loops and nothing output for a year or two when trying to make arrangements of songs after years of doing it that way and have been live jamming recording last 4 years with great results.
Trying out a new strat: not letting myself work on details on the computer until the skeleton of the song is complete. Result is a lot of variety in songwriting, but a bit rougher arrangement/mix.

Yesterday I made a friend.
Someone I…
I completely agree
That itβs harder to fall than leave
You said before you let me kiss you
Itβs a wonder that we
Can still fondly remiss, that kiss
The miracle of the red dress
20 years from today
When iβm lying in my grave
My face…
When i was 15 iβd, had enough
Got all my things and, packed them up
Flipped off the whole world, i was so tough
Little did i know things would get so rough
Got so excited to be, on my own
Finally a place that i, could call home

Sometimes life tends to repeat itself if you're not careful.... Good to find a moment to recognize old patterns and shake them off.
Great help on this one from the MN Coffee Table Gang - Greg Connor on guitar and vocals, and Mark Lofgren…
A simple folk style song based off the Velvet Underground's "New Age".
I was given the task to write a song quickly, by no less than a pretty girl I was talking to at the time. The influence is apparent, perhaps theft, but hopefully Dylanesque…
My motto is INWARD THRU THE FOG. One day about a month ago, Laura 'Taylor' Whitfield told me I should, "write that song." Thinking back on a fog-bound night in California, I wrote it. Norman Pilcher, a friend from Texas, and I were headed north…

an original nine eleven tribute song- by scott horwath - drums by jonte tychman . . . it takes a bit for the vocals to start . I did my own voice on first track - and then stacked my vocal harmonies . . .
My Acoustic Guitar and Vocals Original ~ with overtones / natural harmonics - (i.e. "Tapping") - I also recorded a second vocal harmony track . . . synchronized to my main / first vocal track .

Why does the bpm drop? You on analog gear working realtime? Nice flow again... but why
Plenty of groove in this. Don't let this go I tell yah
Interesting to see where it started and where it ended up!
I love this - not rough at all. The lyrics are really compelling. Love the bridgeβ¦.
Jangly and catch as heck. Awesome middle section.
Love this, melodic and melancholy. Great solo. Quite Cure-like too, reminds me of "Numb."
Lovely melodies in this one. And yes, it's very good to remember: I'm not too old, not too young, and I'm not stuck :)
Killer!!!!! - Evan Brennan
Paul Smith Some of your tunes fit right in with a soundtrack feel like "Pulp Fiction". I love it. πΆ
