#RPM Challenge 2013#
Oh it caught me by surprise
I Looked into your pretty eyes
Nothing more than a simple kiss
And a moment like this
We don’t need no fancy cars
Diamond Rings that shine like stars
You never really asked for more
Than moments…
This is beautiful. It really pulled me in.
I used to participate in REM February challenges but lost interest last year with their new format. I'll have to go look at this Song a Month idea.
I Can't Seem To Find My Way Home
Featuring Norm on Percussion Track: "Pilón For A New Son"

Lyrics:
Searching for something
I wonder and roam
Hoping the truth
Soon will be shown…
I started out this morning thinking about Norm’s fantastic percussion and came across this song. Norm let me use one of his percussion tracks to fill out the song. He has an album of 94 collaborations on his Alonetone Page.
I wrote this one yesterday. A little something to bring hope for the future.... there's always time to begin anew.
Thanks to Greg Connor and Mark Lofgren for their wonderful guitars and vocals on this one - recorded yet again around my kitchen…
A simple song in Open D.
It's a cold, and frosty night,
Stars are shining,
Shining bright.
A wintry breeze, through the trees,
Stoke the fire,
Beat the freeze,
It's a winter's tale.
Mull the wine, and cook the fare,
The larder…
Here's the second song I recently decided to do with a studio recording from one I wrote and posted here a while ago as a purely vocal version. It's one of my favorites.... I hope you'll enjoy it too
Singing In The Silence
Verse 1:
Singing…
After Greg Connor wrote this for me a while back, I kept listening to it every time I was feeling tired of winter, which at this time of year is several times a day. Somehow every time I listened to it, it reminded me of my dad. I know he would…
I was just experimenting with a new arrangement for my cheap condenser mics to try to get better acoustic instrument sound. I think I got on to something I like better. Anyway, fooling around with it, and with this traditional sea shanty (and…
Once again, Greg Connor has kindly added his wonderful harmonica and Dobro to this song. Thanks so much, Greg! Mean Streak Blues is a song about how wrongly we could deal with frustration....enjoy listening

A BIG, BIG thank you to Wildgeas who took my simple acoustic guitar song and turned it into a beautiful work of art. Arrangements and Production done magnificently by Paul Lennon (Wildgeas). Also, special thank you to Bethan who put her sweet…

The coffee table was influenced a bit by a good bottle of wine and some excellent Minnesota beer a couple of nights ago. And the result was this masterpiece!!
Upper Middle Class Dumbass Blues
I woke up this morning
Both my girlfriends…
Wow! That was a great bottle of wine!
We really took a walk on the wild side with this one but it was a lot of fun to just get together and laugh for 3 hours!
The coffee table gang helped me round out this one that I shared earlier. I love this version with Mark Lofgren and Greg Connor's wonderful talents on the backup vocals and guitars. I like how my ukulele blended in on this version.

Here's a new one that I did

I was flying so high on eternity's wings

A song I wrote over the last few days. Did a one-take-wonder on the recording, so it's pretty simple. Hope you like it!

I look back and think…

Very soothing. I like the tempo change identifying the Solstice (at least that's my interpretation)

You have definitely captured a visual image here. I’m afraid we all, at some point, will be waiting out by the road in the rain.

Ahhhhh …. The highlights of 2021. We still had fun even with all the obstacles we encountered. Here’s to a great new year ahead.
I stopped by for another listen after a ripping cold weekend. Happy New Year Roger!
This is one of my favorites!
I love this version that you created.
I’m amazed at the quality you bring to songwriting and presentation.
Walking down memory lane this morning and found this. Big smile here! Great song Nick.
Outstanding!
This brought back memories
I love that Drop D and harmonics.
I love that twelve string sound. This song reminds me of cuddling up and watching the winter weather out the window. Beautiful.
Wow! That was a great bottle of wine! We really took a walk on the wild side with this one but it was a lot of fun to just get together and laugh for 3 hours!
I stopped by for another listen. Beautiful writing on your part. I like the blend of ukulele and two guitars too.
Listening to “My New Shorts” album. Good stuff my friend.
Beautiful song!
Good advice! It seems we are both in a reflective mood lately. A solid song, great lyrics, excellent instrumentation and delivery.
That chorus really struck me. Beautiful all the way through. The third verse, in particular, brings out the optimistic view. It’s never too late .
