My Friend

This is an ode for a good friend of mine that had took his own life at the end of last year. I was in the midst of writing some other songs and it stopped me in my tracks. I just wrote basically how I felt about this tragic ending to a very special friend. This one is for you Phillip.
Recorded using Reaper DAW & Jamstix virtual drummer software.

I'm sorry to hear about your friend. I get scared sometimes when I'm alone too much & I think about the ways people who have taken their own lives affect me. I guess it's easy to understand that it's not a matter of finding a reason to do it; it's a matter of getting help before any action is taken, & somehow getting through the quicksand long enough to find a reason to be OK again.

Fine tribute. A sadness we all share sooner or later.

Good song, James. I like the EP, it's like the Flaming Lips' more conservative cousin. Sunny textures, pleasant melodies, good work!

Heartfelt and beautiful. A friend of mine from work just passed from cancer and this hits hard and deep tonight. You have a great singing voice.

This one's really growing on me. And I didn't notice the story behind it when I was first listening (although I suspected something along those lines from the song itself). A sad tale, but a gorgeous song.

Sweeet tune! Sad story behind it, but I guess that's how we get the inspiration. I have to say it's an incredible production, very loud and clear, you can hear everything! A job well done!

Loving these vocals. I'm listening on crappy pc speakers, but big sound, and I love how those vocals sit on top of it.
