Dancing Girl
A new one…
I wrote it on 5th February, and managed to record it in less than a month (a head-cold and lack of hearing in one ear slowed the last lap somewhat).
But seeing as the last one took over 8 months, I think I’m already ahead for 2015!
Dancing Girl - A A J Russe
If all the world
Adores the dancing girl
We’ll have to wait until she’s done
We’ll catch our breath
When she leaves to get undressed
We’ll just imagine where she’s gone
Ring the bell
Throw pearls in her wishing well
The pirouetting rose-scented dancing girl
In her dreams
You melt it seems
But you don’t ever get to touch the dancing girl
The pick-me-up
That brings you down again
Those pretty pearls I know you spend
She thinks you’re nice
She thinks you’re very nice
Another poppy in her field
You must know
The pearls you cast are wasted so
On the pirouetting rose-scented dancing girl
In her dreams
Though you melt it seems
You don’t ever get to touch the dancing girl
You never ever get to touch the dancing girl
Your pirouetting rose-scented dancing girl

I grew up in the '70s & your music reminds me of the best of what was on offer in that decade. Your singing makes me jealous... cos I can't :-)
cool beans... nice structure, very clean. I don't like throwing out comparisons but it feels Three Dog Night-ish!
Thanks for the encouraging comments and for letting me hear this song!! Wow! Such a great concept and hook. Imagery, vocals, production. Stuck in my head for the foreseeable future although, many of your other songs await!
This is really good stuff. Songwriting firmly placed in late 70's art rock/pop, which is a very good place to be, if you ask me. Contemporary, skilled production makes for a tasty sound palette and a very enjoyable listening experience. Bravo!
Good un' :)
*When she leaves to get undressed We’ll just imagine where she’s gone* Just brilliant.
I dig the classic flavor of this one. Some choice bass runs. Groovy lyrics. Great vocal delivery. Superb mix-down skills. Thanks for checking out "niaR" on my Gene Eric Mann profile. Hear it as "Rain" on my Nightmoth profile. Rock on!
