I rarely play music with other people, firstly because I lack the technical skill to follow another’s lead. I can do little more than improvise. Secondly, the sort of music I aspire to make is rarely the music other folks would be interested in making. My dear friend, Ben Kempkers is one of the few exceptions to this. He asked me for a harp bit, which I supplied, and he returned it to me plied with his wailing dilruba. The combination of these two etheral sounds comes out sounding incredibly sweet if nothing more than a sonic collage.
