The Appointment
Peter Fedofsky
As requested, here are the lyrics.
On the night stand is a clock
counting down the waning hours
’til the fiery fingers of the dawn come crawling through
Burning eyes in morning sun
the engine turns more slowly now
driving down a silent street toward her house again
one fine day this will be in your past
forgive yourself for the decision
one fine day this won’t come crashing down on you
in her driveway a rusty car
oil stains fixed onto the pavement
you make your way up to her door and sigh
before you knock she’s standing there
here eyes betray a sleepless night
you put your hand in hers wihtout a word
one fine day this will be in your past
forgive yourself for the decision
one fine day this won’t come crashing down on you
one hour later in the waiting room
sharing a magazine
you try to make her laugh but you’re both not feeling it
you’ve had to grow up a lot today
After on the car ride home
she stares out the window hardly says a word
your hands are shaking on the steering wheel
you watch her walking up her drive
she turns and feebly waves goodbye
you sit in the car not knowing where to go
one fine day this will be in your past
forgive yourself for the decision
one fine day this won’t come crashing down on you
What a fabulous blend of sounds. Great songwriting skills. Really professional job. I remember when radio was about this, the singer-songwriter genre, before hip hop and rap ran all the musicians and vocalists off the air.
