I have issues at my house, sometimes they manifest themselves in my tracks. In this case, the bassoon and oboe represent the mouse. The guitar is the peanut-butter.

this is one inventive piece! what a mix - are you sure you didn't grow up south of I-10 in Louisiana? You have that Cajun blues thing down and who'd expect you could get oboe and bassoon to work so well with it! wow.

I knew it!! There had to be a snap at the end, no question about it. A very accurate depiction of one of the little b*stards sneaking around my kitchen, eventually meeting up with its impending doom.
Only peanut butter never worked for me - I always ended up with a bare, unsnapped trap. Always had to go with american or cheddar packed tightly around the trigger :)
I've actually watched it a couple times. If I only had some for this wonderful soundtrack!

Excellent. That mouse had it coming. Let me know when you are inclined to do a track about your bear problem: you'll need some heavier percussion for that one!

Oh I love this! Sounds like a psychopathic toad hobbling home from some evil doings! Great musicianship - fab execution! The toad thing says more about my brain, so just ignore it.

I was about to write, "tell the mouse thank you for me, for the wonderful oboe and bassoon, and give it some more peanut butter", but then ... well, you know. Maybe a nice lily, instead?
And but: if a mouse is an oboe *and* a bassoon (choices I quite admire, by the way), what possible combination of instruments would adequately represent the raccoons that keep breaking into my kitchen and stealing all my corn chips and avocadoes? I'm thinking some kind of Gamelan percussion ensemble might almost do the trick ...
... anyway. Wonderful track!
It seems a lot of you record with open mics and can relate. I record 1 track at a time with usually 4 or 5 tracks. So, Im only asking for about 15 minutes of Silence...IS THIS TOO MUCH TO ASK??? Anyway, my house is so loud, I get a lot of bloopers…
Oh my gosh you are making me laugh! If I had your number, I'd totally call you and tell you that in person! Directory assistance isn't coming up with a "reefwalker", though ... I'll keep trying. All the best in the meantime!

Did the guitar tracks first, followed by bass, then drums and vocals last. I wrote this song in a bookstore, after I came home and recorded it, I realized I made the song too short for all the lyrics.

I'll take your word for it that this wasn't conveniently edited... but even if it had been... that's some funny sh!t right there. Bravo, sir! I don't record much with an open mic myself... but I do have four feline furbags that insist on 'keeping me company' whilst I record. :-)

It was a curious and wondrous thing.
One night I was in my studio adding some percussion to the "Quiet Rituals" track by Barry van Oudtshoorn, when my 4 young children (with whom I was long over-due to be tucking into bed and reading a bed…
My first attempt at a Blumlein or Mid/Side recording. This one is actually a mid/side recording as I used a directional mic in combo with a figure 8 ribbon mic set at 90 degrees from the main mic. Thanks to Pat Broaders for the loan of the ribbon…

Recorded in Sonoma after seeing Les Claypool perform at a small club in Sebastopol. Inspired by his awesomeness, I recorded this all day Nov 27th 2009 thanksgiving day.

the recording on this one is exceptionally good. I think you may have perfected the perc mic up over this last year. is there a hint of reverb?
Nice one, really warm malaria-like sound

HYSTERIA
poem by: T.S. Eliot (1888-1965)
As she laughed I was aware of becoming involved
in her laughter and being part of it, until her
teeth were only accidental stars with a talent
for squad-drill. I was drawn in by short gasps…
A 3 track improvisation on 7 congas roughly tuned by ear to a chromatic scale.
LYRICS:

One Mo' Time!!!!
Real professional musicianship. This is fantastic. Get yourself a cat. I have a great mouser. All I have to clean up is the little mouse tail.

I love the dancing bass lines - reminds me of scene from Close Encounters where the military/government is 'talking' to the alien craft.
what a great story telling! the oboe is just a delight for the ears..

Nice combination of instruments! Great stuff!

Cool tune love the trap snap end.
I sure enjoyed that.
Wow. Just a great sound, as I've come to expect from such a talented artist!

Great combination of instruments. Has a Peter and the Wolf or Nutcracker visual. Excellent!
It seems like you like to deal with technological themes - c.f. Phonus Interuptus. Cool, man.
This is why I moved my studio to the back porch and tossed the cell phone. :)

Ha, nice one. Just like my "studio."
