So I moved to North Carolina to be closer to family and it's been a good experience. However it was tough to leave some people behind. This song is about that.
BTW, there is a riff about 8 minutes in written by my buddy Chris Schugg
LYRICS…
Like the riffs....just not crazy about the mono-ish mix. Cool vox. At 1:00 in, the riff is a little sloppy sounding, mostly due to the drums not interlocking with the bass and guitars. Kind of reminds me a little bit of Helmet, during the Betty era.

I was depressed at my caliber of friends when I had a drug problem. This was the result.

I wanted to do a country song for my brother Mike, but I really don't know much about country music. This is the result.
Hope you like it, Mike.

This song is pretty much how I feel on most days . . .

I like to jam with my buddy Chris, but he gets tired after just a few songs. One day, on his way out the door I started playing this (the original chorus was: Chris is pussin out, he is going home . . .)

I recorded this back in February for the RPM... then I got all distracted by non-discontent and work. I finally decided to go ahead and just abandon the album - but here is the one decent track I made :)

Kinda rough. I'm uploading this mainly to share a guitar technique I've been working on. I'm wearing a slide on my picking hand and using it to alter pitches in single line phrases. There's a lot more can be done with this technique that I've…

This track is from the 1986 Scartaglen album "The Middle Path". The first tune "Jezaig" was composed by Breton musician Gilles Le Bigot. The second tune is one of the "Cantigas de Santa Maria" and is attributed to King Alfonso X of Spain

Buddy Holly's music has been very central to my life.
Sometimes I try to write a Buddy Holly song.
I really REALLY like this . . . . I really dig the hard sound. This rocks . . . very Beatleseque in a good way.
Surprised I never checked out your stuff before now.
An unusual traditional tune from the first Scartaglen album way back in 1984. Going through stuff the other day and ran across the LP and couldn't even remember the tune or having recorded it. I played guitar on this track
Holy fuck, how cool where those amplified guitars!!!!! I would have never expected this song to take that turn.
Seriously, awesome job on outrocking most of the boys on the radio. Reminds me of Heart in a way.
I swore that I would NEVER upload this. Was having a bad day trying to loop "nice" acoustic guitar sounds and got frustrated so grabbed my Taylor and plugged it into a cheesy Effects box and straight into the looper. Started twiddling knobs and…

Well done! This track is of epic proportion, every minute is exciting. A totally great listen. Superb finale!
@ Guest . . . yeah I probably would. ;)
Would you ever consider covering an Elliott Smith song?
Nice, reminds me of Smashing Pumpkins and Skinny Puppy. The feeling comes right through!
@ Zack Facco I write them out, and then I play/record each part twice.
Really dig these string quartets. How did you go about doing this?
This is better than breakfast! Great arrangements and writing! The production is pretty amazing, too...

Unsettling stringy goodness.
S'got a great backstreet Beatles feel!
Great imagery! I can just picture the little varmint running for it's life.
Great riff - big mighty sound!
Chunky riffage!

I didn't think i could listen to a 9 minute song , but hey , how wrong was i , totally excellent 9 mins of my life , respect man Rob
i think this song has a kinda "Planet Caravan" type feel to it. From about 3:30-5 min is very cool. Nice work Davey. -EJ

Hmm- this sounds so familiar . . . .
Love your stuff, but when will there be something new?!?!? Grrr . . . . :)
I like the chord choice as well.
Where is this Rose, and where can I meet her?
More polychords make their appearance . .. you're a sneaky composer, almost like Ralph Vaughn Williams meets Isaac Albeniz, if that makes sense.

Wonderful tones . . . soothing

I dig it. (I'm not criticizing, but a tiny bit of reverb/echo on the drums would be perfect.)
Your stuff seems to getting more adventurous and progressive, and I really like it. Why no thumbs up icon?
This is very good. P.S. I'd really love to hear you do something with a heavier Sabbathy/AIC-type riff underneath.
