Metamorphosis-1

One of the things about my Glitching Satie track that I wasn’t comfortable with was that it wasn’t my recording that I was using. But I’m nowhere near good enough to play a piece like Gnossiennes-1.

However I have learned the first of Philip Glass’s “Metamophosis” solo piano pieces. So I wanted to record that and put it through the Glitch-O-Matic 5000.

To make things a bit different I decided that instead of using piano I would use my Soniccouture Ghuzheng instrument and also the Tube Drum bonus instrument I got from them.

This is a bounce not a live recording, but I didn’t do any processing of the resulting MIDI or audio so, in a sense, it is “live”. Probably you already realized because my timing is appalling (I played from my head & without a metronome).

The end result, especially the tube drum, sounded somehow right despite my playing . So I decided I would upload this, the original, both for comparison and, for me, as a marker of my playing. I will be uploading a re-arranged interpretation of this piece a little later on.

A fine display Mr. Sandbags. I'll have to Google the Glitch-O-Matic 5000. I'm clueless and much to analog :D

Such a sweet composition. Bouncy, but pretty serene at the same time; love it.

Satie didn't came to my mind, maybe because i haven't listened to his music so much, but in my opinion this piece carries quite resemblance to compositions of Philip Glass
