Driftwood

So I’m back at Caffe Lena on Thursday night gearing up for my two songs and a band called “Driftwood” takes the stage (banjo, acoustic guitar, fiddle) and blows everyone away.

Kinda gets me thinking…
And writing…

“Driftwood”

Coming down on 30
Coming to a crossroads
Wondering where I am and where I’m supposed to be
Where I’m supposed to be

Not afraid to get dirty
There’s stains on my clothes
Wondering who I am and who I’m meant to be
Who I’m meant to be

When the light in your eyes sets me free

I’ve been trying to find out lately
Where the human heart lies
Wondering if my own heart is where it’s supposed to be
Where it’s supposed to be

When the light in your eyes sets me free

Funny how an evening taking in Driftwood
Gets me thinking ’bout thinking ‘bout where I’ve been
Maybe thinking more than I should
Can I do it all again

Coming up on forty
Trying to fight the good fight
Wondering if what I am is all I’ll be
All I’ll be

Yes I’ve gotten dirty
Dancing in the firelight
If you could see me now, what would you see
What would you see

Would the light in my eyes set you free
Would the light in my eyes set you free

Thanks Keith. I jacked up my back working this weekend so I'm laid up downing pain killers to make it through work. Decided to jam old tunes till the pain mellow enough to play guitar again. Damn...frustrated as hell. Give me a little longer on that track mix, I'm not in a good state to focus.

Good one! You have a way, like The Boss, of touching something about life in your songs that just resonates. And judging from the comments -- resonates with pretty much everyone who hears.

It's funny how periods of introspection and/or great pain can inspire great music. Happens to me all the time. This is excellent, Keith. Well done. ER
