It's a great song, Alex. And gets better with repeated listenings. It's in there with some other songs i am particularly listening to on my iPod and (rather than the usual - "damn i'm supposed to be doing something for this") I am blown away by how straightforwardly great it is. You might think there's a 'cheese' factor but it's well written, direct and clear. Bravo.
The B side to Dad's father's day present. This is an instrumental celebration of his 45 years in the printing industry, and an acknowledgement that while other kids got bedtime stories, I got the history of lithography..
Fathers often find ways of giving a part of themselves to their sons, and they do so in ways that can be baffling to the sons. Perhaps your father was doing that.
My dad was an engineer and a private pilot. He never told me a bedtime story, but he took my brother and me flying as often as he could. It was his way of showing his love.
Nice song, too.

Fantastically touching tribute - personal, tender, professional...
Less interestingly, this is probably my favourite of your songs (okay, apart from Calligraphy!!).

My take on Gumbo's Keep Your Eye On The Spot, one of many excellent tracks from his RPM2011 album 'Cat's Moustache'. It's something of a departure from the original, though I was trying to retain an element of the gospel so hopefully its soul…
RPM 2011 number 2. Inspired by an ex-friend of mine who had the most dazzling rose tinted glasses. Always used to envy the simplicity of his view and how nothing could ever get to him (everything gets to me).. since i knew him I know a lot of…
This song is sort of about making a clean break, killing off the lead character in your story and burying him along with all his sins before the inevitable happens, and the bad guy gets his. Initially came from a jam with my mate Ben Price who…
This is a song about finding momentary escape from the pain of loss.. and having it interrupted by the realisation that it's the anniversary of the day it all started;
Some days I get up
and I go to the park
and I sit in the dark
and I think…

she’s in a mood
with a, permanent frown
see it, cover her face
from her, chin to her crown
oh you’d better, get out, of the house
please don’t come over
I’m afraid of what she’ll say
I’m afraid…

or too long
can’t define
where we start
to unwind
in a house too large
all the rooms are cold
except where you keep yourself
so I’ve been told
my patience is an anomaly
now you say
this is mine…

feel, the weight
as faith falls apart
know, the truth
that lies inside your heart
trade, the fear
for hope inside of you
cause this is real
the touch of something new
wake up from this fairy tale…
A chance to try something different. Tim deconstructed a Spoon song and then created his own tune using the same structure.
lyrics
She says she knows the whisper number
The one that she shouldn’t know
The words are hiding just under her…
Someone has to clean up this mess. Sometimes it's me.
lyrics
Look at me
Large and in charge, taking down names
The way to be
In control of every part of your little game
Getting things done
you don’t have to like my method or tack…
