Yep, I was kind of going for 70s (early-mid 70s Slade was in my mind - bass and vocals, the rest fits where it can). I actually feared I had the drums TOO upfront for that!! lol
I tried and failed with a lot of percussion too - I felt it needed it. There's some tambourine, and some voices doing shaker noises - but none of it was good enough to come too high in the mix. What I really wanted was some clapping, but that didn't work at all!

70's rock all down the line. I love the background vocals and all the guitar work.
I think the drums could be more upfront, and I can imagine some percussion too. That would be the icing on the cake.
But anyway, a great song! Very well done.

I've posted this "Naked" version because Mrs Russe wanted me to... :-)
It wasn't "finished" in my mind - there was a certain amount of "orchestration" to come.
But I ended up liking the starkness of this version.

Acoustic tale recorded Christmas 2010.
I wrote it years ago. Even tried rehearsing it with the band I was in at the time. But I couldn't play it properly. It took several weeks of practicing DADGAD (never really used it in anger before) until…

Quite nice in this stripped down version ... love the subtle organ ... the simplicity adds to the sense of starkness and the melody is very effective with the words.

**Cobwebs - A A J Russe**
Yeah you know what it is that I want
Oh you knew, didn't you, before I did?
How many times did you wonder whether I would dare?
Oh never mind...
Take off your underwear

He missed you, and though you failed more often than not, you are welcome back home. And there you have it, in all of it's declarations, to ponder, to think about, to question, to wonder. Sonder.
Ok, before I go any further, I need to thank Alonetoner Greg Connor. He proposed a song-writing challenge around the theme of "Who Knew" in early/mid December. Many musicians here in the Alonetone community wrote some amazing songs around this…
Things are great, but then the doubt explodes into technicolor fear. Stoicism can't defeat reality, or is it awareness? And still the antagonist is there. Hard to know.... Another TV-time riff (I hardly watch it, but when I do, I always have a…
Don't tell me how it is, I'm good, I got it, I got it. But are we blind, and are there cracks in a facade? The riff was what came first, probably while watching the idiot box one evening. I am pretty sure it came very soon after RPM '15, and I…
This song is meant to be the intro, set the stage, and talk about the direction of the album. The riff came to me while I was absent-mindedly noodling on my gtr in front of the idiot box one day. I knew at that point I had an album opener of a…

Another one of my musical creations, the first one after my open heart surgery, I finally am getting more strength to sing again :-) So I decided it was high time to have a go in writing a little french number. I hope you enjoy it. Kind regards, Anna
Terrible recording due to my old studio set up dying, but a nice keepsake of just how bad things became before the rebuild.

This song's going on 32 years old...
Some 12 years older than I was when I wrote it!!
I borrowed the title from one of my favourite madrigals, The Silver Swan by Orlando Gibbons:

I did this about 2 years ago and only found it the other day.

Awwwwww! I love this! I can see why you sat on it, but... I can also see/hear why you should have posted it! (And actually, it's made me get up off me backside to re-appraise my last one - which I'm, er, "sat on" as "not good enough" - many thanks!)
Here is my contribution to the latest song writing challenge posted in the Alonetone Forum.

Oh yesss, nice
Fabulous album Gary. Sorry I didn't listen to it sooner!
Oh and this follows on perfectly.
I missed most of this, I was out of the room, it was just finishing when I got back. Decided to go back - so glad I did, EXCELLENT one.
This album is grabbing me :-)

Wow - that really grew on me.
It's great hearing the different approaches to this. Love the soft vibrato in your voice at the ends of lines.
Oh yeah, that works for me.
Lovely song. Wow, clever lyrics. And I love the spare arrangement.
Aww... there's some very tasty music right there
Back for another listen - I LOVE this one.
