Now here's a bit of an oldie - the second song I ever wrote. In... 1978!
I think I played it once, or maybe twice, at school assemblies. My musical peers and colleagues back then dismissed it as corny/rancid pop music…

And this is the last of the little threesome of In Your Hands, Little Thing, and this one, When I Try To Be Me.
It's in the key of 4th fret and was written just over a month later than the other two, on 19th March…

So I got me a new geetar the other week.
Named her Lala, obviously. Seemed kind of appropriate - she wears a faded gold dress and is full of chunes and mischiefs.
This is our first effort together. It was meant…

I struggled to get this thing completed. I've been sat on it for weeks, finished, debating whether I was really prepared to let it go.
I loved the song when I wrote it, inspired by a wonderful week at the end of September. But the recording…

Fellow alone toner Gary Talbott kindly volunteered to add some of his own vocals and strings to this song, so I gladly took him up on it. Fun to keep evolving this one. Thanks Gary!
I wrote this song earlier this week, and reached out to the wonderful Greg Connor and SL Krell here to help me with the lead, rhythm and bass guitars to give it a nice country love song feel. They killed it!!!!!! Thanks to them both for making…
I've been listening to these in the wrong order, haven't I? Love this version - only just spotted it - love the song anyway, but those slkrell licks (P90s again, Steve?) are to die for...
Nice collab guys :)
I hate when I write the ending first...This is the 4th "bit" written in "The Room Over The Garage" or simply, "The Room" 2 minutes of pretty much the same progression...but it will coax out the rest of the tune. We write in "bits" or "pieces…
I was up early this morning before the children so i got me and Les to do and ad-lib song in one take....i wish i had turned the mic down a bit as you can hear me hitting the strings but hey its a kind of percussion...isn't it?
Have been busy this last few weeks with DIY children wedding photos coming out of my ears. But finally found time to pick Les up and create something and came up with this one....Hope you enjoy!!(live in the cellar)

Here's a couple of old one's. Having had my left wrist crushed between a Scaffold pole & a nice lump of Steel at work, need a few more weeks rest before I try a strum or two !!!!
The local songwriters were in my living room earlier this week, and we had a great night. We recorded a live version of this song I posted earlier this month, and I thought you'd enjoy hearing Colin W, Greg C and Scott Z playing and singing too!
Love this - I'm sat at the back of an empty concert hall, wondering why the bottle is empty and why my head is spinning, and which way the night bus is... but it's ok cos there's a bloke on the stage playing the noises in my head.
Comments on Andrew Russe's stuff
I must be corny. I like it.
Like this a lot....especially the unexpected chord progressions in the 'all the morning it was raining' segment....!

Works for me :)
Nice one And I quite like the "mic picking up the strings" effect
It's still the business :)
Woof! That's quite a performance. Love it.
You're getting some fine grooves going in these songs. Loving the bass sound.
And the false ending! Long track, but classy all the way through :)
Love the WOoooOOoooOOOoo's! Big funky rock sound. Magnificent. Like it when it goes down to just bass, drums and vocal - great groove.
I'm playing catch-up - how's the wrist? Hope it's OK.
:)
Someone's been listening to their Saturday Night Fever album!
That's a fine sound. And it's cool to hear some real people playing/singing together in a room. Nice song too.

Oh yes, like. I was half expecting it to get scrunchy as it built - kinda glad it didn't.
Spooky!
Now that's a cool sound, like it.
Ha! Greg has had the same idea :) Yep, loving the Portsmouth sound.
It's that Portsmouth blues sound :)
