Sink or Swim
Cave Street
This song was born on the 18th of Feb. 2011. It was the last piece I wrote/recorded for the challenge. It was a very sad day for me, almost as if all my usual winter sadness was concentrated and crammed into one day. The process of writing and recording this song seemed about the only thing that could get me through the day. And it did.
I’ve been walkin by a river
A river of doubt
A river that’s calling my name
Calling me to jump in
And drown myself
Drown myself in shame
But the sun’s coming up for another day
Across the river I see a hill
And in my heart I know
That’s where I need to go
But I don’t know if I ever will
Oh I don’t know if I ever will
Ever will
Night comes again
But now I carry within
The memory of light from the sun
But the river keeps rising
Still calling my name
And telling me we will be one
Now the sun’s coming up for another day
Across the river someone’s on the hill
And in my mind it’s me
Who is standing there free
And I want to believe that I will
Yeah, I want to believe that I will
I will

Yep it's still beautiful. I just had time to hear it in the album setting. This has been a great half hour ..
*no words*
I'll be back for a proper listen......have to take the wife to work.....she is yelling.....I really like what I hear so far.....
If this is what arises from depression, then there is at least one good thing about that. It's a good song, enjoyed it!
Thanks to all for the comments, and thanks for listening. This is my favorite thing I've written in quite awhile. Not sure if it's in spite of or because of the pain that inspired it, but either way, it allowed me transcend the overwhelming depression to which I had awoken.
Loving this. I've not got the time right now, but I have to check out some more of you guys' stuff
Lovely, lilting and luscious!
wonderful playing, vocal seems a bit soft,,hard for me to differentiate/hear clearly,, very nice,, has the feel sound of country waltz to my ears
Nice!
