After an adventure in re-recording the entire song down a third, we came back to the original, tightened and tuned.
Always the self flagellating perfectionist, it still needs a bit more love. Always the pragmatist, it is probably done for now.
Wow, thanks for everyone's comments and thanks for the link Rewind, listening to it now. I went to uni in Glasgow for a year and loved it and always love going back. If you spend any time there it reeks of atmosphere. Good luck with your homage, look forward to hearing it!
Overall I didn't dig the tune that much, but you've got the emotion so perfectly *right* it's uncanny. When the spoken word part comes in it's really working. I think it's the strings that hold it all together. Great work.
I grew up in Glasgow, and after listening to this I just had to start on my own homage to the town. So this song really was inspiring, literally.
Do you know the tune "Glasgow" by Craig Armstrong? It also nails the vibe (a bit darker than yours) try it here : http://tinysong.com/2I3e
A test run with my new Line 6 DL4 delay pedal. Recorded with a handheld mp3 recorder, hence the ambient room noise. The DL4 was fed into a BOSS loop pedal also. No overdubs, all on the fly.

Very beautiful. I won't insult you with the comparisons to other players. I'll just say that you're up there with them.
Damn you. I'm gonna have this stuck in my head for a long time! Nice work.
Inquiring minds want to know... what kind of "stuff" were you experimenting with? Nice track, btw :-)
