Written for the January Song Writing Challenge put forth by Carl Unbehaun on Minnesota Homebrew Radio Show. "Write about something new".
Inspired in part by the disruption caused by the Government Shutdown.
It's been a long time. Too many distractions and not enough time, or even focus to play lately.
Somehow this song, "Higher Ground" squeaked out from some hidden place.

Neat Song Greg. I like the way you blended the recording - Guitar - Great Voice - Harmonica. I did not realize you were a song writer along with all of the other talents.
The circling of life
The ability to find your way
Like a compass in the night
And the coming of another day
It’s like when the stars align
You’ve been given just a glimpse of truth
And you think that you might find
The Optimism held in…
This song is the result of exchanging "One Line Zingers" with my friend Tom last Saturday while playing a little music.
He challenged me to write a song about him and he would do the same at my expense.
The funiest song wins.

Of out tonight for a drink with a few friends but not til 9 so i thought i'd try to write a song and i think i have . i think i'll revisit it later to re-do but for now it will have to do. Hope you enjoy!! A heart-breaker for a Friday night…
Update: Gene offered to improve the Mix on this song! This is that improved version. Thanks so much Gene! You are awesome!!!
I wrote this song earlier this summer, and had played it a few times with Greg Connor, fellow alone toner, and…
Outstanding . . .
I can hear Melissa and the rest of us harmonizing. Colin's bass is keeping us together and Scott's mandolin just brings it over the top.
Great song and lots of fun!

Happy Sunday Alonetoner's.
I wrote this song yesterday as I had some recent events to ponder.... I hope you like it. Trying for a bit of a bluesy feel. If you'd like to download it and add some background blues bass or guitar, or harmonies…

I start smiling every time your voice pans to the other speaker. That's fun!
Nice song. Andrew has the stuff. I think he's right on, although it may not stop Colin and I adding a little something.
Think of it as putting plastic Pink Flamingos in the yard. It may not add much, but you just feel good about it.
Here is my version of Greg's Cherry Pie...I took a little liberty with it and recorded a whole new song.....I think Greg said that would be ok!!
Tried to put the Sweet Ronnie Cream Cheese Mojo on it....good gawd!!!!
This is my first upload. I mostly have a vocal here. It's a song that I'd love to get some collaboration on from the guitarists in the community. Let me know what you think?
Are we having fun . . . or what! I think Ron's Mandolin would sound perfect in here.
Sounds like the key of C to me, less a little drift from singing *A Cappela*.
Maybe somebody will step up and send you a guitar track. If not, we can record it next time we all get together.
Welcome to the wonderful world of Alonetone!
