BLUE CORVETTE by Jeff Prince
Friday afternoon I stop to cash my check
Buy a case of Bud and pack of cigarettes
Oh, something to shake. Oh, something to break.
Someday I’ll be riding in a blue Corvette.
I could get myself a corner Laundromat…
Oh, I would have liked to be on the backing vocals here. It reminds me of some 50's stuff where the backing was girlies repeating the end of the previous lines. Fun track!
There's a biker bar about two miles from my house. Guthrie and Rick and I sang there for a few months on Thursday nights. Guthrie and I many a Sunday afternoon and night. It calls itself THE 2500 CLUB and claims to be "The best little biker bar…

Teenaged lovers under cover.

Last night I held your hand
Reached out and touched your hand
I know it's just a dream
I say, "What does that change?"
Today the sun will shine
Because you made it mine

She might not remember. She has found another
I you ever see her you will recognize her

THE TABLE by Jeff Prince
Funny, running into you this way after all these years
You hardly aged a single day except those lines around your eyes when you smile. She laughs as she recalls the girl that she was and the boy who chased her around…

Oh, well, well. Oh, my, my.
I'd like to see you on the other side
Oh, well, well. Oh, my, my.
I'd like to see you in the Bye & Bye.
I tried to write you a song but I couldn't

Hello…old friend. This one hits me in the heart. When we moved here to NM back in June… we left behind in the house, our old couch that we’d used for 22 years. It had been my parents before that. It was probably close to 40 yrs old. And yes, it made into a bed.

This one hits. Heavy reflections on all the stuff that served me faithfully, and all the leaving was my doing. To reward all that loyalty, I do to my stuff what I always hate other people to do to me.

There was a movie Peggy and I were doing the location sound over in east Dallas: THE HOLDINGS OF THE HEART. If I remember right they put this song in the movie.
THE HOLDINGS OF THE HEART - in C
The heart can hold a lot of things: the sunshine…
The heart can hold a lot of things: the sunshine and the flowers
The chill that springs the falling leaves. Winter's darkest hours
The rains that quench the thirsty earth. The buds that sprout and bloom
Sometimes it tries to hold too much and there isn't enough room
Sometimes it tries to hold too much
The heart can hold a multitude. Family and Friends.
There are things that life will give and things it only lends
A wife becomes a mother, a son becomes a man
There are things the heart can't hold
And still it thinks it can
There are things the heart can't hold
The holdings of the bank are cold, but holding hands are warm
The holdings of the mind are thoughts that in the moment form
The hands that hold the tools that build the brushes for our art
None are as enduring as the holdings of the heart
The holdings of the heart are self-renewing
On holdings of the heart, high interest, paid
Holdings sometimes best be liquidated, yet we stay
The heart can hold the music. The voices of the Time.
The heart collects the little things. The pennies and the dimes
The heart can try to measure the stature of a dream
Pounding like the waters on the stones that block the streams
Pounding like the waters
The holdings of the bank are cold, but holding hands are warm
The holdings of the mind are thoughts that in the moment form
The hands that hold the tools that build the brushes for our art
None are as enduring as the holdings of the heart
None are self-renewing like the holdings of the heart
Well, Rosie's like a lot of folks
She's just trying to stay afloat
But she's got a broken boat
She's a going down
And Rosie's got her problems, friends
She just tries to do her best
Who's gonna do the rest
She's a going down
If god had longer arms, you know
He'd reach on down to Rosie
Reach on down to Rosie
Reach on down (2)
Etc...

Talking about listening to "criticism:" A producer who lives down toward Houston called me one evening after he listened to , MY NEW SHORTS and he gave me advise on how I could and should "go ahead and finish," those songs. He had detailed suggestions for every one of them. I listened and thanked him for taking the time to listen and respond. Everything he said was sound advice about how to expand each of the short clips...one thing though, he missed the point of what I was doing. One GETS IT or one DOESN'T GET IT.
This Jack Hardy song is about one of Kerrvill's favorites. Gone now. Had a weekly song circle and spigetti feast at his apartment in New York for years. I nail his voice at a place or two. I also step a bit across the worshipful attitude line everyone had for him. He and I had an immediate connection. One night I was singing in some east Texas town and he was there, so, he got to hear my song before we lost him. Maybe the fact I was older than him allowed me a certain playfulness.
Comments on James Michael Taylor's stuff
Hang on James, I'm on my way! ;)
Oh, I would have liked to be on the backing vocals here. It reminds me of some 50's stuff where the backing was girlies repeating the end of the previous lines. Fun track!
Brilliant lyrics! I love this track! Super performance!
Ha, love the lyrics. A nice bit of fun. Cool guitar going on too.
Pretty song. I like the gentle music with the firm percussion, it works really well.
This is a great song. Good strong vocals.
A beautiful love song JM, most tenderly sung. The country music is perfect.
It's really difficult to talk on a track, I have done it once. This is very well done.
Jeff's voice reminds me of Jeff Lynne. (That's good). Nice and perky guitar work.
Sounds like a thumping good jam! Great vocals! It grows on ya!
Pitch this to N.Young and Crazy horse. Perfect fit. Lovely, the freedom here!
Reminds me of one of those sparklers on the 4th of July. Good One James!
Nice! I'm digging the raw edge to this one, especially that guitar stuff at around 3 minutes.
:)
do they still line dance out that way.
Ah good for True! Why Mr Taylor, I am quite stirred. Really digging the atmosphere. Definitely native american influences.
Hey JMT your experimental side is showing! I'm diggin it!
Ah yes now I get it.
Can't hear it, JM.

...as Buddy holly said, "RAVE ON!"
...really gets the feeling of that path!
I don't understand being criticized for a track being TOO LOUD. Doesn't everybody have a "volume" knob?
That is fun...
