Recorded over 10 yrs. Ago on my Zoom 10 track. It was the second tune I cut just messin with the chord changes. It has a very urban vibe and reminded me of cruising lake shore drive in Chicago.
A lil rocker influenced by some of my faves, Springsteen, Petty etc.. well i left my home and family
and made my way out west
i lost my job at the steel mill
im a hoping for the best

Had this one written before the end of year. Finally hit the record button a couple of weeks ago with some electric rythym guitar tracks and built it from there. I was having a problem getting the song to mix right and had an idea to try a different…

You've got some nice originals ... this has that catchy hook feel to it.
The organ is a nice touch in the chorus?bridge. I hear a touch of Petty and a hint of Brian Adams but it's totally you.

eyes all around
thought surveillance, the fighting on the ground
dont abuse the diguise the one they made,
should never be altered
now we fear , the words we say, descent in
the shadows
we must hide to survive the thought police their searching…
I really like the melody, vocals are spot on, the keys add a nice touch and work well with the guitar, progression has some nice changes, kudos to the drums and bass. Candy to the ears, thanks for sharing.

Great tune James. It does touch a place in that whole Springsteen Jackson Browne feel that I love so much. Great performance. Some nice piano and sax ... good tune!

You have done your influences proud with this one! Great mix of all the instruments creates a nice wall of sound without sounding at all cluttered. Well done!
Having more fun with Hendrix. I tried to stay true to the original as far as using no overdubs. Just one guitar, bass, drum and vocal track. Kind of used a mix approach and used a bit from the record and a bit from his live performance in Winterland…
Nothing beats when the MN songwriters convene. Greg and Colin sure brought some awesome sound to this song at the coffee table to improve the version that I recorded myself earlier this month. It's what I call a TOTAL MAKEOVER.
Thanks guys…
You gotta have another rocker, because ROCK! And it's all about perspective, and recognizing that sometimes the biggest antagonist in our lives is ourselves.
This all ends, some days are good, some days you are no further than where you first began, or worse. Have faith. The song started life from the verse gtr. It was actually a variation of an idea from 2014. That idea went on to become the song…
Be strong, nothing that is good is easy. Even when everyone seems to be telling you to give up, be true to yourself. This song came to me in a dream. In that dream, I was singing a country song. You have to realize, I am, uh, not really a fan…
Trying, but now I know what a mess I am, and it seems so daunting and unobtainable. I'm not sure I can do this. It sounds NOTHING like I originally thought it might, but I am ok with that.
Things are great, but then the doubt explodes into technicolor fear. Stoicism can't defeat reality, or is it awareness? And still the antagonist is there. Hard to know.... Another TV-time riff (I hardly watch it, but when I do, I always have a…
The song that led the way. I came up with the guitar sound first, and needed a song that evoked the pure energy that was coming from that guitar sound. It needed to be fast and intense. And it needed harmonies. We're full abandon 'cause it's time…
This song's going on 32 years old...
Some 12 years older than I was when I wrote it!!
I borrowed the title from one of my favourite madrigals, The Silver Swan by Orlando Gibbons:
"The silver swan who living hath no note, when death approached…
This one's a bit of a ponderous beastie.
It can be whatever you want it to be. For me, it's got a lot to do with Sunday 18th June 1815.

Is out of danger
And of course you never lie
Not…

forever let alone

I did this last year for a friend of mine who asked me to do a Jingle for his Company. It's a cross between Good Day Sunshine and a Brady Bunch Vacation Sing A Long in the Old Family Cruiser..LOL!! I recruited my children for a bit of background…
Thank you Greg Connor for putting his wonderful harmonica on this song. Enjoy!!

Here's a new one. Well, a new old one, actually... And a bit different than the last one!
Something old, something new, something borrowed, and, er, something blue...

Nobody loves you

I wasn't going to post this - it's the original demo that the finished version is based on. This is the same lead vocal and resonator part that's on the full version - no EQ or anything, just the naked tracks. There's two bars of silence before…
This is "Bonus Hockey" Andrew!!! I love the anticipation a slide guitar creates. Reminds me of the solo acoustic live version of "Your Bright Baby Blues" by Jackson Browne.

Like a warm hug. Very nice music from Minnesota.
A touch of the Who on this one...Pete Townsend said that to him Rock and Roll is a way to dance on your problems.;) Great rocker!
Brilliant.

Has a Beatles vibe...very cool.

Raw-kus!!!!
Takes me back to the days of great 70's era rock. Tops!!!!!
Missed this one. Nice breakdown section....sounds like red SG doodling :)
Brilliant
Always good to hear your music....
:) Vocals fit the track like a glove.
Oddly wonderful Psychedelia. What colorful retro sounds.
@Brett I draw the line at wearing a Johnny Bravo Matador outfit:)
Very Cool Train song here:)
Nice!! Enjoyed the oration.
Okay....yes I just read that you had resurrected "Lucy" from snuggly guitar case. Nice:)
Rockin tune. Yes, I agree..has a ZZ vibe for sure. Sounds like a Les Paul standard????
I dig this arrangement as well. :) I like the demo's intimate feel.
