Maybe I shouldn't tell you what I was thinking
The first time I saw that sad smile in your eyes
I couldn't look away, and I don't recall blinking
It might've been better if we'd just said simple goodbyes
I've been down this road before once…
So you wanted your freedom
What from the past were you willing to take?
I'm sure you had your reasons
Too many promises you swore you'd never break
The world that you know is not coming back
Maybe it's time you start burning the tracks…
Cut-off jeans, your eyes shining in the sun
You were looking for a good time, I was looking for "The One"
Crazy dreams, when hours never seemed too late
You believed in lucky breaks and I believed in fate
I thought the only love was true…
If I just slip the car in drive
I'll meet you on the other side
Or maybe I could turn back time
And we could both pretend to fly
Losing feeling inside out
No sense kneeling, no such doubt
Failed at saving, nothing lasts
Just repaving…
She stands alone in my mind
She'll make it home in her own time
I've always known that she's not mine
She gets closer to the line
Then turns and walks away
Breaks out the wine
Don't know how she survived another day
My Pepere was born before the great war
To God-fearing parents in Maine
Where the simplest of rules taught in Catholic schools
Was don't use the Lord's name in vain
Every day in that school, he'd adhere to that rule
But a loophole he often…
O my brother
Where did you go?
Down to the river
To beg for your soul?
Did anyone see you?
Did you go there alone?
What did you offer
For one of their stones?
O my brother
Is there any way out?
Of the deal they offered?
Did they leave…
I don't know
Where it comes from
Or where it goes
Just wait until it shows
You can't hold it
Too long
Then it's gone
The air off the water
The fire in your soul
A lucky man's daughter
Come in from the cold
I keep my heart open…
She stands alone in my mind
She'll make it home in her own time
I've always known that she's not mine
She gets closer to the line
Then turns and walks away
Breaks out the wine
Don't know how she survived another day
Put the phone down
Shut the cable and the lights
We're alone now
Step with me into the night
I found the candles
It really wasn't all that hard
Kick off your sandals
Tonight we dine under the stars
Don't let the moments slip away
They…

I know why you love The Starry Night
I know why you weren't all right
I know why you couldn't stay
I know why you're here today
I know why you couldn't see
I know why, 'cuz you were me
I know why you loved to paint in blue
I know why…

Created all in one go with nothing to write on while I walked the Hilton Head beach in the rain last spring, this gentle little song more came through me than from me.
ROLLING ON BY
I had an old soul when I was a young man
Turning my phrases…
This pretty much sums it all up for me I guess.

Well, this may be the final tweaking of this nice little sing along song...
I sent this fun little sing along off to Jim of MTC fame, and once again he has outdone himself... And I can't thank him and his wife (who appears covertly) enough…
Sitting around in my shop a couple of days ago with the Goodall and the Zoom H4N. First time I've really messed with using the internal mics on the H4N in multitrack mode
A cover of KLandry's 2010 RPM Challenge song, Fire Dancer, lyrics below:
Time to feed the fire
Throw another pallet on
Get it burning higher
The night’s still young
I love to watch you dancing
Your silhouette against the blaze

Great songwriting, just a terrific use of a phrase that baseball-fan newspaper-reading kids like me used to see. As one sportscaster once said... "He's listed as day-to-day... Well, aren't we all?"
Hey Colin,
I'll be doing a ridiculous amount of downloading once I remove all the useless commercial musical crap from my iTunes. This track is outstanding. Man, what is in the water in Liverpool to create such great musicians, and can we please start bottling it and drinking it over here.
Contains language.
This, or at least the second part of it, was originally going to form part of a comedy opera I would never have finished in a million years. Couldn't resist putting it on here.
I don't normally write out my lyrics, but…
A little something I recorded on a Zoom H4n, acoustic was recorded from built in condensors, strat was recorded plugged into bottom jack using only onboard effects, mixed in Reaper and mastered in Soundforge.
Cave Street posted a track recently, their contribution to the Woody Guthrie Project, organised by Akron Family.

I wanted to take a shot at this too, so here's my demo. It was really just half…
Inspired by a series of springs in the Hill Country, that are said to be so full of life that you can even see the ghosts. Or if you know the right time, the hummingbirds. A recent composition using samples and FS1R.
Haitian rhythm bed with kalimba and Ney and synthflute. Rejected for its original purpose as being 'too jazzy' ;)
The rhythmns and kalimba were old favorites that I had not adapted to anything. Added flute and textures for a website project…
