You'll tell me when you're ready.
DON’T WORRY ‘BOUT THAT RIGHT NOW
Where have you been is all they’ve been asking
Where are you going is what I’d like to know
Why are you running when nobody’s chasing?
What are you hiding? What can’t…
Welcome to my day on the river with Karen, folks.
INTO THE LIGHT (THIS LAZY RIVER)
Take me down to the river
Throw the jackets in the hull of the boat
Let the current deliver
To the bend at the bridge where it’s harder to float
What…
You'll tell me when you're ready.
DON’T WORRY ‘BOUT THAT RIGHT NOW
Where have you been is all they’ve been asking
Where are you going is what I’d like to know
Why are you running when nobody’s chasing?
What are you hiding? What can’t…
Follow the arc through the sky
Hard to judge how high
Only steel in your spine
Pretend you can fly
For a moment in time
Only you and the sun
Trying to catch the other one
A free man's work is never done
It's just begun
Turn your head…
As outraged as I've been over the past week, when I sat down to write about it, all I could think was, "How can I get through to someone?" This is the result.

What a beauty-full song, Keith! How wonderful if we could ALL "lay low" at Christmas and simply appreciate one another's presence and love! Thank you for gifting us with your lyrics and melodic sounds! Your is a true "Christmas Heart"!

Wow! This song just really touched me deeply. What a beautiful song... so raw but so lovely and warm too.
All my best to you this holiday time. I hope the best for you and wish that the hope you express here is infectious to more than just me.

Music and lyrics by Brian Vaughn.
I shouldn't have to say this, but I can't stand this silence.
And I wonder if you know what i'm going through.
It seems way too common for words and acts to disagree,
But I expected more from you.
I told…
Just flipped open the laptop to this here on alonetone. Just an outstanding track. The opening buck-fifty-seven of guitarwork is simply brilliant... And the song only gets better with the spot-on vocals.
Radio-ready.
I know before I've mentioned hints of Matthew Sweet (in all the great vocal delivery and outstanding songwriting) and Foo Fighters (with the incredibly guitar-driven arrangements and counterpoint of clean and edgy), but this music is so much more than the sum of those parts. I suspect that if either Mr. Sweet or Mr. Grohl heard this track, they'd say, "Damn, I wish I'd written that."
This song delivers like a powerfully honest stream of consciousness that leaves me thinking of one word only...
Integrity.
Outstanding track, Brian. This truly is music at its best.
Lyrics and music by Brian Vaughn.
Love, love, love...
Look up and down.
There are shapes in the clouds,
And ants on the ground who march in line,
To the roots of a tree,
Whose bark carries the name,
Of a girl whose boy thought her worth…
Damn, man... Always blown away by your professional sound. Music like this is the reason why I haven't bought a commercial album in years. There ain't anything on the radio I'd rather listen to.
This is just a really simple string/piano piece that resulted from two years of half-hearted tinkering. As of now the cello is too loud and the snare sounds too sample-y, but I'd appreciate any other criticism.
An unusual traditional tune from the first Scartaglen album way back in 1984. Going through stuff the other day and ran across the LP and couldn't even remember the tune or having recorded it. I played guitar on this track
This track is from the 1986 Scartaglen album "The Middle Path". The first tune "Jezaig" was composed by Breton musician Gilles Le Bigot. The second tune is one of the "Cantigas de Santa Maria" and is attributed to King Alfonso X of Spain

Just back again to listen to this brilliant piece of insanity. How can I fave something multiple times? Is there a super-fave button? GREAT song! Especially love the bridge with the backing harmonies.
Just plain brilliant.
Written with a buddy of mine Chris Clark in 1991. Initially he had a great guitar part and a harmony vocals part that was better than what I did here. This was recorded @ Halvorsound all parts performed by Hook.
One of the first songs I wrote for "Burning Wood (the Bonfire Sessions)", and one of the last to be completed, Sam lends her incredible vocal talents to this sunny-day driving song.

To conclude the album, here is the title track in a full band setting, featuring the great Rob Wirensjo on a riveting piano and also Hank Johnzon doing a jazzy pedal. The arrangement is a little reminiscent of turn of the 19th century can-can…
...And counterpointing the previous track, this fully arranged reprise of the opening of the album is the perfect ending to a perfect album.
I don't like to throw words like "brilliant" and "genius" around, but in the case of Stummindude's Kaleidoscopy, the words are warranted.
Well done, Jana. So well done.
The Cacaphony of the Kaleidoscopy, and a nod to 70's progressive rock. Brace yourself - this is a long one!
Falling Is Never

Years between life, between panic, a lie
between she who would…
First look at the clock: 8:48... And after hearing the first notes, I can tell that I'll be happy to hear every second... And will probably play it again upon it's completion... And now I just hit the guitars at 2:30. Speechless.
To think that only 46 people have ever heard this song is criminal.

A couple of ornate melodies on a string that Will worked really hard to decorate with words. Since the song has basically two different melodic themes, the idea is to portray a relationship from two perspectives.

As I listen through this album, I can't say enough about this album's perfect execution of Jana's musical vision. It doesn't take long to recognize that this album is the sound of a master at his craft.
A slow, scaled down, bluesy song with tremolo guitar, soaring organ and close up vocals.
Don't Ever
(Words & Music by Jana Persson)
I wanna hide no more
And I wanna close the door
Don't ever leave me
Never decieve me

Flawlessly simple arrangement for a song so properly focused on the perfect delivery of soulful lyrics. It takes guts (and a ridiculous amount of talent) to arrange a song in this way. Outstanding.
This song is a tribute to the slick Californian music branded "Westcoast", that was all the rage back around the turn of the 1980's.

Incredible production. Big studio sound without any filter on Jana's perfect vision of great music both musically and lyrically... I could only dream of creating a song as clean and rich.

Do I detect a Harry Chapin influence?
Wow, you weren’t kidding: this guitar tone is great, Keith.
Fantastic song. Beautiful lyrics. w;)

Great song and sentiment. We're all grieveing the demise of the American democracy.
I love the lyrics to this song. w;)

I'd be curious to hear how you went about composing this song... It is quite good!
...And back again to listen to this little piece of perfection. Just magnificently played.
Outstanding track!
...Oh and this one is a true stroke of genius.

Great little song... Love the "laundry" line. So good, so real.
Ooooh... Excellent guitarwork... Great vocals... First rate all the way.
Faved at about the 0:07 mark. Great track, Brett... And now I run up the screen to click "Follow."
I had to fave it myself for Sam's perfectly playful vocals.

Reminiscent of the opening notes of Billy Joel's "All About Soul" with well-crafted song to match. Radio-ready. Spot-on harmonies. So good.
Crazy good... In every way. Listening to Amanda sing on this outstanding track reassures me that the future of music is safe.
Incredible production. Big studio sound without any filter on Jana's perfect vision of great music both musically and lyrically... I could only dream of creating a song as clean and rich.
How I love this song. I am so envious of the purity.
Excuse me while I pick my jaw up from the floor. Great sound from these two instruments. Well done, guys.
