Solo acoustic guitar recorded January 2nd 2009. Hope to do a longer more developed version at some point ,but for now just a short version to learn more about using new DAW software.
This track is from the 1986 Scartaglen album "The Middle Path". The first tune "Jezaig" was composed by Breton musician Gilles Le Bigot. The second tune is one of the "Cantigas de Santa Maria" and is attributed to King Alfonso X of Spain

Ha ha, yep...well you know Kirk...me and silence have issues when I get ahold of a guitar. Maybe I should have done an acoustic version?? Now I gotta get my Jimi Jam on to break the post lunch lag!

An unusual traditional tune from the first Scartaglen album way back in 1984. Going through stuff the other day and ran across the LP and couldn't even remember the tune or having recorded it. I played guitar on this track

Sitting around in my shop a couple of days ago with the Goodall and the Zoom H4N. First time I've really messed with using the internal mics on the H4N in multitrack mode
Kinda rough. I'm uploading this mainly to share a guitar technique I've been working on. I'm wearing a slide on my picking hand and using it to alter pitches in single line phrases. There's a lot more can be done with this technique that I've…
A moody solo acoustic thing that I came up with playing in a long forgotten tuning. Just got a new Zoom H4N, so this was recorded in my shop sitting at my reedmaking bench may 12 2009

Thamyris invented the 8 string Cithara and challenged the muses to a musical duel. His punishment for losing was to have his hands cut off. Now all he can do is imagine one last chattar solo as he takes his last breath. The gods have taken away…
Now ye sons of the kraaken, let's get to some honest pillaging, shall we? Aaaarh!

Here now, there be treasure to hide and we'll bury it full deep in the earth, and ye with it if you tell the tale. To the shovels lads, and dig down.

Traditional Irish - Arranged by Doug Sparling
The last of my traditional Irish tunes for now...I learned both these tunes on my Kirk Lynch uilleann pipes when I had them - now I just play them on guitar best I can.
Buachaill On Eirne is…
This song was written long before it was recorded, though it stayed pretty much the same from day one of its creation until the studio about 4 years later. My favorite part is my guitar riffs near the end. My least favorite part is my crappy singing.
Comments on kirklynch's stuff
My only criticism of this day in January is that it was too short. This is sublime.
Chilling out, drinking red wine, listening to tunes from the bordello. Sweet life.
Love the sense of urgency in this otherwise laid back piece. Such a classic.
awesome flow and melody on this one.
excellent as always!!! KIRK EL MAESTRO DE LAS 6 CUERDAS!!!!!
I'm a huge Hendrix person. This jam made my day! Awesome stuff!
Man oh man...one of these days I really need to talk you into playing lead on one of my tracks ;) Damn I love this track

More polychords make their appearance . .. you're a sneaky composer, almost like Ralph Vaughn Williams meets Isaac Albeniz, if that makes sense.
Great guitars and chord sequences and licks.
Shades of Hackett and Gabriel but a light in it's own right.Great musicianship all round and a magical piece of wrtiting
This is a really nice song. I like the vibe....
always on my Ipod :)
