Another one from back when I was tracking to actual tape. Was going to do a new version at some point, but decided I had lost interest. Sometimes there's no sense in recreating the past! Recorded probably the beginning of 2007
Solo acoustic finger picking thing I've been working on for a while. Sometime around 1968 I started studying with Mr. George Bennett who taught me the rudiments of finger picking. Later when we played some gigs together he also taught me the rudiments…

What happened after too much time on youtube watching live vids of "voodoo chile" Noisy obnoxious and very cathartic for me! Live to 2tracks with the Jamman
Just one of those passing moods. Just finished today - august 2 2009. I resisted the temptation to try to develop it any further and just let it be what it is

this is classical music half the parts are played live in one go then copied for other instruments. the original takes are three and a half minutes long then copied to make this 6 minute piece all the parts were played on the laptop keyboard…
I am not BT, so no rain drops were quantized in this production.
Storm was recorded last night on my Tascam DR-07 (with wind filter and limiter).
Just a simple piano improv. That of course had to be tweaked far out of the improv stage.
Pain is inspired by my bout with severe nerve damage in my lower back. As anyone who has ever had a good hurt can tell you, it gives you an internal feeling of chaos that often comes and goes in waves and spikes. The music follows this pattern…
Just a quick conceptual sketch of a new piece we're brewing. 210 bpm, 5/4, with 6 bars per phrase. We'll probably take this down once we've got more there. Our poor pianist will probably get carpal-tunnel syndrome from this.
Instrumentation…
it is icy. it moves. it is glacially inevitable. the listener may percieve tension. a desire to break free. a wish to increase velocity. it is impossible. it will proceed at its own pace. relax.
White Light was written in June along with 10 other "Off the cuff" tunes. Just before the great flood in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. Our house was flooded and slowly being rebuilt. This is 4th of the 10 to be recorded.
Recorded: August 8, 2009
Details: Epiphone Les Paul (DADGAD/DADGBE - capo III), Seymour Duncan Pickups, POD XT, Boss RC-20 Looper, Audacity, Sound Forge.
I'm convinced that composing/recording daily is the best way to really find out if a DAW fits your workflow. And I think Ableton Live nailed its final nail in the coffin for me tonight.
See, if I weren't writing so much, so quickly, I would be…

Great groove, man, great playing as always. So should record something when we get together or just hit the pubs of Weston?
Great picking!
sweet playing! Nice composition, too.
so I was about to say: the hours you've put in since 1968 have paid off, kirk. This is Georgeous!
you've certainly put the hours in, kirk. Sounds georgeous!!
You had me at 10. I LOVE THE BLUES!. Excellent work Kirk! w;-) This may double post...something strange going on?

Beautiful, exquisite...what else can I say?
So good. Saw Tommy Emmanuel the other night, and he played some great mellow fingerpicking like this, great to hear it!
