An experiment that became a meditation.
Two tracks. One guitar, one looper, one e-bow, two tracks and a touch of Live's Overdrive effect on the second e-bow track.
The starting premise was could I get the sound of many guitars by continually…
Saw an add on TV for something called "Drag Me To Hell". Dunno what it is with horror films, but apparently scary music is on my mind. Thanks for helping exorcise it.
The guitar part, btw, is e-bow plus slide so any tonality is an accident.
Could've been the soundtrack to the nightmare I had last night - I don't usually have them and this music immediately brought it all back! And judging by the title, this is a REALLY effective track! Very clever.
This has been something that has been struggling to get out for a while. I finally feel comfortable enough playing it to have pressed record...
Boring technical details:
DADGAD tuning
two improvised tracks, GT-10 Studio Acoustic Guitar preset…
You all should check out MMI's music blog. My favorite quote from the last entry (regarding alonetone): "There is an ocean of music and I'm just peeing into it, enjoying the temporary warmth that affords."
Beautiful piece, outstanding sounds and such musical, melodic guitar playing, just the way I like it...and I think you play closer to my influences than I do :)
This track started off with an idea. The idea was an instrument setup such that I could play a single note, or octave and have arps and stuff built it up...
I failed in that experiment by getting carried down the add more effects road and before…

After I read into RPM and understood that anybody could take the challenge, I joined up. I'm starting with a clean slate, so I hope I can finish! This a WIP of the first tune I'm working on. Everything I do will be recorded/produced with the Boss…
Thanks to Mike Brown for lending a hand with the lead parts.. despite trying his damnedest not to! Also thanks for MMI for the advice which in part at least, I took!
I'm gonna call you dirty from now on in x2

2010 RPM Challenge
Worked on this track for a *long* time. Learnt a lot but it's time to call it done and move on to something else. Am pretty happy with it all in all.
Sounds include samples of me clapping and the Snowdon steam train heavily processed with Ableton…
just finished this one, represents a slightly new direction i am taking i think.
i am particuarly proud of the polyrhythmic sound i achieved. i was worried it mite become too cluttered (at the beginning) but i think i achieved clarity.

Live performance from "Zodiacrobatic", Hybrid Groove Project's remix of "Tierkreis" (Zodiac) by Karlheinz Stockhausen. Brian Sacawa and I performed this, our version of Leo, on our Mobtown Modern series in May 2009. The complete "Zodiacrobatic…
Sitting around in my shop a couple of days ago with the Goodall and the Zoom H4N. First time I've really messed with using the internal mics on the H4N in multitrack mode
I made this simple song to try out playing an acoustic guitar with an ebow. It works, but it's quite quiet. The movement of the fingers on the fretboard is louder than the sounds. I didn't use any effects on the guitar tracks.
I recorded my voice…
Comments on mmi's stuff
Just brilliant!
Damn, now I want noodles.
Major noodles with major flavour! Gorgeous!
Love the way this builds up around 3 mins, and then descends back in to reflection.
Jangly goodness! Like gypsy e-miners.

what are YOU doing up this hour? doing some kind of a happy dance I imagine? ;-)
nice song G -Andrew
*Does a happy chair dance*
Very nice! Optimistic , but no too much so if ya know what I mean!!
i mean light.. as in happy and slightly melancholy. I'm serious about those evolving layers of sound... awesome.
it dances between light and slightly melancholy thanks to the interesting progression. Moving textures ftw!
Hey- Thanks for the mention in your blog- very nice of you. Doug turned me on to it

Superb!
Swoon.
Welcome to the party. Interesting limitation(?) you've chosen.
Awesome song.
Tapped out! Super cool. If you don't mind the comparison, sounds very Trey Gunn (which is a good thing).
Yeah, I'd have trouble sleeping too with musical ideas like this.
Very well done. Somebody should warn those Kraftwerk dudes that you're coming for them.
Very cool.
*Love* it.
Is this at all inspired by the TV show? Cause it certainly fits.
Dudes. Nice frickin' porch. Wish I was there.
Wish I was there to see this.
I love the changes. (Man I still have so much to learn.)
yay for warts; felt like I was there
Really digging the vibe of your recent stuff.
Don't you hate it when somebody walks in in the middle of a take? :-) So realistic I jumped.
Astonishing. Love the video too.
yeah man. can hardly wait for the savaging.
Hahaha, awesome. Brings me back to my time listening to Bill Bruford's Earthworks.
A thing of beauty. Few write changes like this anymore.
