You know how good mixing means EQ, compressing etc? Yeah, disregarded everything here.
intro bluesy guitar sample from here: http://archive.org/details/MiZ2012-01-26.wklitz.schoeps.sbd.flac16 "Diamonds on the Soles of Her Shoes"
Yeah, I used to do that for the heavier tracks sometimes. Nowadays I just record a few guitar riffs in a hurry, go to uni and then make a song out of them later on when I need a break... so its hit or miss with the end product. In this case the drive was a bit too high xD
Nice track. Your signature scale :)
On the mixing: A friend of mine and I were talking about recording distortion and dealing with noise and he told me that he likes to layer his sounds. Rather than have a single track with distortion set to 8, he'll layer 4 tracks at 2 (conceptually). I have to play with this idea myself to fully understand it but figured I'd throw it out there...
Just listened to a couple of your playlists and enjoyed everything.. great stuff! unfortunately, i now feel too chilled out to go back an fav them all... too much work :)
Last track of the new album :D
For those wondering, no I'm not referring to anyone, it's just how the 'post rock' names are, ala Red Sparowes, ASMZ, etc. Long and Pretentious track titles.
Got more and more interested in shoegaze/uplifting indie/electronic music e.g. M83 or //orangenoise, so I tried to compose a bit. Really pleased with the result :D
A meditation of sorts.
Arose from experimentation with a technique described here

This is a single take with a bunch of reverb added after the fact in Reaper (also an experiment…
I accidentally started two tracks on alonetone in different tabs. Your track and Movement to Contact's "Coffee with a Little Sugar". Do it :D http://alonetone.com/mtcband/tracks/coffee-with-a-little-sugar-by-norm
Maybe I missed a career scoring for no budget spaghetti westerns, because this is what this reminds me of. Done live a couple weeks ago with the Taylor and a floor full of toys and loopers.
I would opt for MetaZen (http://metazen1.bandcamp.com/track/moonsucker), a really soft trip-hop style rapper but I don't think I could reel him in here haha. Oh well, its a really nice, tight track regardless!
Ditty #10 for RPMC. I really had a hard time trying to come up with the final track, so I fell back on the old loop/delay/ebow improv formula, which I had hoped to avoid on this album. Kind of acoustic Breaking Light. Well it crossed the finish…
Another Live performance with former band mates in Scartaglen back in 1988 on the NPR show Mountain Stage. This time a piece of Gaelic mouth music followed by 3 reels. Maybe the most complex arrangement of a set of tunes that we ever did.
I was depressed at my caliber of friends when I had a drug problem. This was the result.
LYRICS:
Most my friends are embryonic
Most my friends are hooked on phonics
Most my friends stick to the comics page
Most my friends are disillusioned…
Comments on Tipu's stuff

Sunshine.
Love this!!
Pretty cool track man.
Enchanting piece! Very nice!
Makes me dizzy...
FAV- really really enjoyed this one.
Sweet sounds!
Eq? Compression? What is that? :) The best tracks are always done on the fly.
Nicely assembled, pastoral shifting moods.

This is just too pretty.
Quartal harmony + post-rock flavor + decepticons in the background = <3

Literally couldn't stop myself dancing to this!

Actually quite good Tipu. Much to be said for subtlety and minimalism.
Like a cave tour..yes i can see the light..
Stimulating..
Trippy stuff. They should launch one more space shuttle so they can set it to this.

great opening! Surprised to see another idm/post-rockish composer at alonetone

leading back to home? Excellent.
I can't reveal that! (Thanks for the listens, brw, all)
This is awesome! Katatonia+Anathema vibe here
Nice, reminds me of some of The Final Fantasy music. Dont get me wrong, those songs are commendable!
nice, liking how the different instruments bring contrasts in the mood of the track :D
amazing
this is really good, chill.

Wow, this reminds me of some epic sci-fi soundtracks, ala Hans Zimmer and occasionally Philip Glass
the 'about me' picture pretty much summed it up heh. favourited.
great album!
Loving the back ambience in the later half of the song. Very seductive.
70's prog rock organ-ish synths, nice.
...and the beatboxing.
Loving the mellow scratches!
Reminds me of Sixtyniner (Boards of Canada). And yes, this should definitely have a loop button
I love this track so much. Such a nice track, one of my favs of all time!
Nice, reminds me of Smashing Pumpkins and Skinny Puppy. The feeling comes right through!
