this is from last week's improvfriday and was performed on an AXiS 49 driving Kontakt's sax ensemble and jazz drum kit. The deep reverberation is on purpose.
This is for today's Improvfriday. Being all a first pass improvisation against a drum beat - there are mistakes. I did go back and spiced up the drums just a bit. everything but the drums is my Roland GR-20

This is an improvisation on a theme I play all the time when I sit at the keys. Sort of a warm up I've been playing for a very long time. It is very simple and I may have used it here already. My apologies.

I could've done with this last night - piped it in to the street, could've helped the trick or treaters keep their perspective!
(Especially when my neighbour's car was trashed by a young man with a baseball bat.)
Right, well I am here ready to be terrified for 32 minutes!
An atmospheric and creepy ride with sensational sound effects. Penetrating last note there.
My first attempt at a Blumlein or Mid/Side recording. This one is actually a mid/side recording as I used a directional mic in combo with a figure 8 ribbon mic set at 90 degrees from the main mic. Thanks to Pat Broaders for the loan of the ribbon…
This track is from the 1986 Scartaglen album "The Middle Path". The first tune "Jezaig" was composed by Breton musician Gilles Le Bigot. The second tune is one of the "Cantigas de Santa Maria" and is attributed to King Alfonso X of Spain

nope - those are chinese gongs - some just have natural phasing - I don't know how that works but there it is. Also, according to the gong samples I have you can get a large number of different sounds depending how they are struck. Heck, I forgot, Norm has a gong - a pretty big one too - I bet he could make you some custom gong samples if you'd like.
I did this in order to stretch it out about 20 times as long as it is and did just that but or should I say because I used a very low sample size for the sound I would get something similar to echo stretches just like a 2k size of sample in paulstretch…

RPM 2011 number 2. Inspired by an ex-friend of mine who had the most dazzling rose tinted glasses. Always used to envy the simplicity of his view and how nothing could ever get to him (everything gets to me).. since i knew him I know a lot of…
Outland (The Ballad of Jarrod X)
words and music by VIVIAN CIRCLE
Mother, why did you lie to me?
I didn't have to make the same mistakes as you.
Father, why did you run away?
There was so many things left unspoken with you.
Jarrod walks…
Chris sent me this great tune playing his 17 ET guitar and fretless bass, and for some reason i thought Mafia instantly. Sammy the Bull was the under-boss to John Gotti back in the 80's and 90's and he turned informer to bring John Gotti down…

Excellent! Now I don't need to run out and buy one of those Halloween CDs to play for my trick-or-treaters.
Where do you think these things up. Really creepy but most effective. I listened to 10 minutes but got called away. Will be back!
