this is about a couple who are at odds with each other because of their goals, could also be viewed as a guy who wants his partner to commit suicide with him?
i usually play this on guitar, but for the RPM Challenge, i wanted to do it electronically…

that is not a sample you hear in the background, it is the dryer going. leave it in? okay, sure i'll leave it in. it's these artistic decisions we're all forced to make.
I literally pulled this out of my ass in a few minutes. The lyrics just poured out of me once i decided to sing about myself. Very autobiographical, also inspired by polka music. i love polka music!
didn't know what to call this track, but once i came up with a title, it wrote itself! i heard on npr about how all this junk of ours is making outerspace around Earth a very dangerous place to be. this track is trying to reflect that danger.
Enjoyable track here... has a bit of a tasty game-soundrack sound. You'd probably enjoy my "Dance of the Technoids" music video as a chaser to this :-) (it is a YouTube video attached to the music description.) Second section is the perfect free-floating break to the drummy section, very dreamy.

Hey Dashiell...I downloaded your whole album a few days ago and have been listening to it non stop....i really love it...love the electronic songs (esp. mercury and neptune blues are great) and the contrast with the more melodic, acoustic stuff...great work man...i uploaded our stuff just last night...thanks for telling me about this site...its awesome
cheers,

another one i always play on the guitar, inspired by Nick Drake's stuff; half way through this song goes into unknown guitar improvisational territory, where i just played over my own stuff after looping it

This is truly sublime. I'm glad we had the chance to correspond about a new spin and for you turning me on to "Your" new music... Really love it. Thanks I will spread the word.

I've gone more acoustic for this piece with bass and guitars courtesy of Jaz Arwand and the lovely, airy sound of Jess Spencer's voice. The song is about empathy or lack thereof.
This song has been hobbling around half-written in my psyche for eons, and it took the RPM Challenge to finally finish it!

This piece is my original almost-fugue-sounding arrangement of my favorite Ukranian “Christmas Carol”, Carol of the Bells, as if J.S. Bach had written it. Ingredients: Warmth, depth, complexity, eternal romance. Dedicated to my Belle. This was…
Imagine a Mexican quintette playing a fast waltz. There are 3 melodies played in 3/4 time, in a sort of non-standard ABCABC format. The title is a photographic/geographic/melodic play on words. There is a merging of European waltz and Mexican…
The lyrics were co-written with Mike Novak. I sent him the music, and we worked from there. I've done that a bunch with friends from Canada (Me Man Jack - check them out) and its fun to collaborate..

with the manipulated concertina/accordion and the harpsichord and synths, i was going to try and describe this, but i think you say it best in the about section.

Oh crap - somebody broke the multiverse. I should have known those #?%! black holes were a serious security flaw.
We were really meaning to fix that, but never got around to it. (It would have cut into our golf time.)

le time signatureologista
Lovely guitar work!
Nice track- that second half is especially fascinating!
I'm happy.
i'm quite enjoying this. there's a build up about half-way through where it shifts the overall sound which is quite radical.

Great job overall on the entire album. I really really love your sound.
Love this track! Very dreamlike. Like an unheard Penguin Cafe Orchestra track. I'd leave the dryer in. :)
Sweeets!
Quite like this.
this sounds like the evil cousin of belle and sebastian on ny-quil...in a good way.

are you using a $10,000 sample library to do this, or...the quality of the instruments are...well, you know.
you're a great composer.
thanks for the song, my 5 yr. old girl just asked me what "fuck" means.
this is hilarious.
i like your songs a lot, good indie Americana.

i'm supposed to go practice guitar, but i can't stop listening to this album. it's captivating.
i love that patch you're using, it's sublime, you know, the gurgly one.
the way you juxtapose your half-sung/half-spoken vocals with such original music is uncanny and quite an accomplishment.
love that exotic lead rhythm, that could've kept going, and the beats...reminds me of my own stuff :)
AMUC, you're right on my wavelength: bizarre, original, intriguing, crazy out there...speak to me o strange one.
