Stunning. Goosebumps. His one-man-one-guitar interpretation is now the definitive version of this song for me.
So this isn't just a Procol…
This is a mighty cool version Mike. And thanks for the shout out!
I've always loved this song since I first heard it in the early 70s. In the early 80s we (a blues rock band) kept getting asked to play it. I cannot remember whether we actually gave in. But I learnt it the way I play it now in the 90s. I still play it regularly sat on the sofa (it's about the only song I know all the way through, including my own!!) - I sing it to my wife who looks on indulgently!! lol
Too many rainy days lately, so what is a boy to do? Write a song!

I'm walking down this country road to find some peace of mind
With every step I seem to take I leave the world behind
There's agates in the gravel…
Ok, I know that it appears that The Proods have been posting so grim music of late, but this song started out as an homage to one of the Lady-Proods, and just kinda got away from us.
More stuff followingβ¦.bright, chipper love songs.
This is a series of covers recorded live and edited for demo purposes. The band is Rogue Rage, circa 2007 All Keyboard work(piano, organ, strings, horns, synths) is performed by me.
Smoke fills the skies, the ground is breaking,
The world we knew is quietly forsaking,
Shadows stretch from corners unseen,
Whispers weave through the cracks between.
Eyes are waking, hearts are torn,
Storms are rising with each new morn…
I can't quite believe that I'm posting this, or that I've even recorded it. But I've played it like this sat on the sofa in the living room for many years, and I needed something to check out how to record a live "one vocal and one guitar" song…

Kidding aside...I like the new vox. Very Tom Waites. Better than what I could (did) do.
@isband Seems this one might be my first recording to get the Voldemort treatment

We were not to speak of this again....
Beautiful song, Greg. I used to pick up agates growing up in Western Wisconsin, but none here in NW Minnesota.
Another beauty
