Veejay and I wanted to do something special for our dad for Father's Day in 2012, so we took one of the songs that he wrote when he was much younger and covered it. In a way, we are recognizing our genetic musical heritage.

A traditional Canadian song. There are lyrics but I decided to leave them out.

Lyrics…
As the shadows stretch across your dark and lonely room
and your record player fails to chase away your gloom
I want to hold you tight, and tuck you into bed at night
I just hope that you’re alright, and I can…

I've been resting for three days now. Still able to write a few songs, so I'm not complaining! I realized how much I've just been going going going. Universe telling me to take a break in a very big way. Self care, check.
Thanks to a microtonal university session I was introduced to 37 notes per octave (edo). Here I use an Linnstrument to play an older version of Kontakt french horn section in 37 edo.

Stunning. Goosebumps. His one-man-one-guitar interpretation is now the definitive version of this song for me.

This is a mighty cool version Mike. And thanks for the shout out!
I've always loved this song since I first heard it in the early 70s. In the early 80s we (a blues rock band) kept getting asked to play it. I cannot remember whether we actually gave in. But I learnt it the way I play it now in the 90s. I still play it regularly sat on the sofa (it's about the only song I know all the way through, including my own!!) - I sing it to my wife who looks on indulgently!! lol

Wow that was a beautiful rendition. I love it.
Cool, two different takes on this song on this site. Do you folks know each other ? Both versions are very well done. Keep it up!
It’s groovy alright, a great 60’s vibe. Mix the Kinks with the Dead and you get YOU!
Great instrumental, Pat. I used to play a First Nations version for the kids at our local library.

Kidding aside...I like the new vox. Very Tom Waites. Better than what I could (did) do.
