An unusual traditional tune from the first Scartaglen album way back in 1984. Going through stuff the other day and ran across the LP and couldn't even remember the tune or having recorded it. I played guitar on this track

Thx, all guitars went through the compsat/compressor of my Empirical Labs Pre so it's all over the place.
I know nothing of drums, it's virgin territory - I'm using Jamstix 3 - I'll look at the verse - if I knew what the verse was! What time are you referring to re: the hi-hats?

Wow. Nice piece of music. Kind of reminds me of Vai and Rush at certain points. It has that kind of mature phrasing. Nice soloing and phrasing at 1:45 - 2:05. Wide tone at 2:15. Is that the distressor? Very smooth production. I would do the drums differently, some of the hi hats in the verse sound excessive and interrupt the flow of the groove but the drum sounds are pretty cool. Very clear and present. Nice verbs. I like the change in groove and guitar layering at 1:17. Everything has space.
This is me live....
No frills....
I Play a classical because my fingers are too big... Lol!!
Sorry if it is a bit rough...
was a tough night...

I like it though...

@Wrinkled Shirt - the darbuka is real but sampled, from a collection of Turkish and Middle Eastern loops I've got hanging around. I've cut it up a bit, and spliced in some variations...
