Really enjoyed this...although, a few times during my listen, I had this strong impulse to just walk away from it all:D Hey. Did you ever live in L.A.? I knew a David Berry there in about 1980 that I worked on some music with that I lost track of.
First of all I love you all!
You are so kind and musically perceptive about my pieces it really makes the hard labour worth it!
The comment about buildings stripped away is spot on!
Also here are the other sonatas. More personal than orchestral music but this is a great site to share them.
No 1 is me trying to imitate Mozart, 2 Beethoven (more stormy!) and 3 the great Bach, my personal favourite. Enjoy!
Peace
Owen
Fantastic song writing Dave. When you rolled from acoustic to "rockin" it stole my heart. One hell of a piece of music. A total kitchen sink song. It's got it all.
The guitar is great when it comes in at 1:21! For some reason this sort of has a Dave Matthews Band groove to it which dig. Nice lyrics and vocal delivery.
Great guitar playing! This one has lots feeling to it. I was bobbing my head along the whole time. I'm not much of a lead player so I like listening to other people who can play lead! Well done tune!
We call this Beat-box ghosts (the prog-fu mix). A fun collab between Osckilo and myself. Osckilo had this song he did called Ghosts, all done beat-box. I had to ask him what beat-box meant, I had no idea. I took his original track (just his…
This is another of my miniatures, kind of 'baroque' style. It's from 1998, and I consider it my best guitar composition. Not a good interpretation here, but it took me a lot to play it this way after all these years. I hope you like and/or enjoy…
Well, this is a single minute of music around this wonderfull 'Angel Eyes' song. I hope you like and/or enjoy this miniature. Have a great 2011 alonetoners!
Beautiful, this the deal. European folk and classical, what a great mix. Sounds like the kind of stuff Bert Jansch & John Renbourn used to get op to. I am now officially a fan of your guitar playing.
Very very good. This is very original sounding. You have a very nice touch on that nylon string. I hear classical, latin/spanish flavour, blues even, its all here in this wonderful track.
Blues funk soul baby. I love this one Regs...s...s...s...s...s...s...Junk man baby, junk man!!! who hoo. I don't even know how to get this loose, I need to try someday.
This is as real as it gets. Thats a song. I really like your sounds guys. Comparing my sound to The Band, and my electric guitar playing to Neil Young, well thats about as high a compliment as there is in my books, so thank you, two of my biggest heros there for sure. So a big thanks from Atlantic Canada (Saint John, NB) back at you.
A new song that I've been working on, still yet to be titled, but heres a live recording as part of the Winter Bridge Sessions (video to accompany on youtube).
It was recorded on a bridge at night in the winter ... aka Winter Bridge Sessions…
I didn't like the 1st version so i changed it so here it is. imagine Sitting in the forest listening to the breeze being free and wanting to follow it..........................
yeah, the forest is more than a place, it is a state of being, a feeling inside as you walk along the dirty city streets. Thats the way this feels, the electronic instruments and even the vocal place me in the dirty mean streets of the big city, the feel and melody and vibe of the song places my soul in the forest, deep, where the filth and choas cant reach me. I may be driving my car, but in my mind I am deep in the forest. And those little creatures talking to me, always chattering away in my brain, thats the feeling this song gives me.
absolutely, totally, completely love this song Tharek. This is the treatment that this song needed, it sounds so frigging good this way, unbelievable brother. That Geir is some kind of guitar god.
My first attempt at a Blumlein or Mid/Side recording. This one is actually a mid/side recording as I used a directional mic in combo with a figure 8 ribbon mic set at 90 degrees from the main mic. Thanks to Pat Broaders for the loan of the ribbon…
Holy wow that is an intense acoustic sound. I woul dsay perfect recording, very good job, and what a composition, there is so much air in this piece, and light and even dare I say it, joy. Wonderful song.
There is that deep Reg soul...deadly style here. This is deeply recorded, deeply grooving, deeply felt by all who dare click the dark brown triangle...why?...why not...
"High Life" is a musical genre that originated in Ghana in the 1900s and spread to Sierra Leone, Nigeria and other West African countries by 1920. My friends from that part of the world consider this be the "go-to" rhythm for just about anything…
Thanks Norm, I posted the lyrics. Now then on to this great groove, Yeah baby thats really moving isn't it. Is this one track or a few tracks overdubbed together? I am moving every part of my body to this groove.
I'm getting sick of the same old chords.
LYRICS:
I'm retarded
I'm a stooge
I can keep myself amused
Have a hand in
my abuse
Set a spark and light the fuse
I'm retarded
I am rude
I am average
I'm obtuse
We don't use that word…

This is some serious lady undressing music! nice guitar work!
Awesome stuff. This would be great music to play during a drive through the mountains, where the air is so crisp and clear!
Excellent Storytelling Dave.
Great laidback summer day vibe! Very clever use of tempo changes also. Perfect sounds for today's lazy afternoon.
