nearly there!! running out of time and could i get this recorded to a click??! Hell no, so i did it live and it shows. ah well, it has a certain charm!
I remember hearing this on the RPM player a little while ago and it really caught my attention. I love simple, elegant songs like this - so much more effective that huge, songs that drone on.
Sounds like it could be a Ray Davies demo - and that's about as good as it gets!
Thanks too for the kind words about my work.

That bass is waaaay better! :-)
This is bloody great. Really impressive; the vocalizations for the percussion worked really well. Thom would be proud... But so would Danny Ash (Slender Fungus, anyone?) ;-)
A year ago the Public Radio Exchange hosted a "Public Radio Talent Quest" inviting 2-minute entries from across the country from folks who wanted to be the next great public radio host. Thousands entered. Three won. I created this commemorative…
This is inspiring. Thanks for this. I agree, with douglasboyce, there is a rhythm here generated from the spoken word. And about a billion miles from rap!
This is a segment that's going into my piece "The Interview: When Words Fail". It's created entirely from a one second sample of a nervous swallow followed by a mouth click extracted from an interview. Overtones were manipulated to create the…
A test run with my new Line 6 DL4 delay pedal. Recorded with a handheld mp3 recorder, hence the ambient room noise. The DL4 was fed into a BOSS loop pedal also. No overdubs, all on the fly.
When I put these last 3 songs on itunes, my computer did something weird. It told me that these songs were already out there on the internet somewhere. So, in order not to infringe on any copyright laws, I would like to assure everyone that NONE…
i started writing this song 5 years ago and finally recorded it this year. sad to say, but my $$ situation isn't that much different. this is a whiny song from a liberal-arts grad who is a brat and can't really make ends meet in NYC.
i definitely…
A further march down the road in acl's evolution - and one of the many directions we've been dying to get to... it's, ummm, water-y. (And this song is especially dedicated to J Wentz.)
I needed 2m02 to finish the album. I was completely spent and without a drop of creative juice left. Just noodling with an Omnisphere patch when one of my cats, Mississippi, jumped on my keyboard and proceeded to walk up and down and sit on various…
Hey sandbags! You just helped me with Elysium, thanks! And you kinda introduced me to this site so thanks again!! :-) Been checking out your tunes and what you have done with that app. Loving this one! :-)
Comments on ghostly's stuff
It's like you channeled late 60s Cat Stevens and Donovan at the same time (and again I hear the beauty of the Kinks)!

You have a really nice voice, reminds me of Damon Alburn :)
Charm is right. This is remarkably warm and personal sounding. I quite like it!
Lovely melody, stripped down to its essentials. I love the moment when the organ comes in.
Love it: absolutely great work. I love the focused randomness of it. the keyboard "solo" at 1:10=beautiful.
I like your record. This song sort of reminds me of Big Audio Dynamite.
perfect couple of feelings. Mi bipolar mind is greatful and say: EXCELLENT!!!
Nice and laid back :)
Beautiful...
This track just beautiful. I can't wait to here the finished album.
Uplifting and gentle - like drinking white wine in a garden on a Sunday afternoon, just a few minutes away from the traffic.
awesome. love the feel of this
Close harmonies! NICE!! Gosh, it's all so tinkly sunny melancholic. And a ghostly spiritual indeed! Good job :-)

Very impressive! Amazing how you can get it to sound like a band of marching soldiers from about 2 minutes in. From a swallow. Wow!
You've gotta love a new toy! This makes me miss my headrush pedal.... :-( Great atmosphere you've created here.
Hey, that's a guitar. But you said...... :-)
The song ends in a totally different place to where it started. It DOES get better with every listen. Fantastic!
D...r...i...f....t....i...n....g...... Reminds me of Brian Eno a bit. Except this doesn't go on for 35 minutes! Love it.
This is a hauntingly lovely song.
Fantastic build-up, shimmering. Does it for me.
