This is a re-do of "Up on the hill" done the conventional way. I wrote the words 1st.
This is my 1st attempt at using Logic Express. I should learn most of the basics by spring. :)
The old version has been posted here This new version has Drums…
I always liked this traditional song based on the old folk tune, 'Rueben's Train'. so I decided to give a go. It was recorded a couple of years ago As usual more time spent mixing than recording.
At the time I was suffering from some sort of bug…
This is a newer version of Summer Nights from what I posted on Thanksgiving day. I didn't like the previous version. This is a much cleaner version This song is one I wrote quite a while back. I didn't like the melody so I changed it. Easier…
White Light was written in June along with 10 other "Off the cuff" tunes. Just before the great flood in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. Our house was flooded and slowly being rebuilt. This is 4th of the 10 to be recorded.
I had this old song sitting around and decided to re-do it. The chorus used to be slightly different.
The drums are from "Drummer" and the song is played using "Pointless Picks" Recorded in "Garage Band" and Mastered in "Tracktion."

Thanks Bethan. Yes it was our first Thanksgiving back home. It's great to be back!
I appreciate your opinion re: this tune. Your input is very valuable to me. As I listen to both versions I see what you mean.
I should have fixed the mix of the first one rather than redo the song. By doing version 2 however I did learn a valuable lesson. When I recorded the two guitar parts (in stereo) I panned them just slightly to either side. This simple step opened the middle for the vocal and made each part distinct. An obvious thing but before I had assumed that having them in the middle because they were stereo would be ok. Not so. I should have remixed the original this way to see if it would help that mix. I'll bet it would.

This must have been the first "Thanksgiving" for you and your family, in the house since the flood? Hope you all had a good one.
I hope you don't mind but I prefer the other version you did. Mind you, I like this very much as well. Cheers Bethan

This song has sat around for quite awhile with a different melody. While the old melody was alright I thought it was too sappy. So I changed it.
I don't care for this recording, I think it's too busy. It's one of those things that get out of hand…

Aarrhhh ye scurvy sons (and daughters) of sea-rats, the pesky pluckers have been at it again.
Pin back yer lug-holes or it's the plank ye'll be hoping for!
Having fun (finally) playing around with the riff for this tune by Howling Wolf, which is based on a song by Charley Patton and another by the Mississippi Sheiks and another by Tommy Johnson and so on ...
Solo acoustic finger picking thing I've been working on for a while. Sometime around 1968 I started studying with Mr. George Bennett who taught me the rudiments of finger picking. Later when we played some gigs together he also taught me the rudiments…
This is the first tune for my 2010 RPM Challenge.
A bit short...my first attempt earlier in the evening (completely different tune) I ended up scrapping at 1:30 a.m., so this one was done in just a few minutes...
Written and Recorded: Feb…
so this song is an old one, one of the first tracks i ever made. it has a long and drawn out beginning and i am not too sure what i think about it (what's new...). anyways, i figured i may as well upload it, it is jsut sitting around anyways…
When I put these last 3 songs on itunes, my computer did something weird. It told me that these songs were already out there on the internet somewhere. So, in order not to infringe on any copyright laws, I would like to assure everyone that NONE…
Au Naturale! A song a friend of mine wrote. Performed by me, of course. All recorded on the Boss Micro BR. It's a song about sharing. Very rough, raw and unplugged. Kind of embarrassed to "share" it - Please excuse the mistakes and hacks! One…
