The theme for Improv Friday this week is "variations". So here's an improv reconstruction of the one classical piece I know, Bach's Jesu, Joy of Man's Desiring.
A friend of mine once called this kind of jam session "noodling", as in "straight from your noodle (pointing to his head) to the guitar". This is a primo "noodling" session.

Song #2 for the RPMC. My goal is to have 12 short tunes (1-3 minutes long), so I need to pick up the pace.
Again, quartal tuning on the top 3 unison pairs of the 12 string. I've been listening to Ralph Towner's Blue Sun, hence the title.

Ditty #9 for the RPMC album "Bones".
I'd had this rolling around in my head for about a year now, and even played it live with the SD&Q trio. Didn't quite turn out as planned, which is not unusual.

really not much synth, all experiments with effects over guitars and then stretched or feedback recording problems that turned into dial tone like drone sounds. Awesome either way you brought it, dude!
Quick recording of a new set of pipes I'm working on. Long winded explanation- prior to the late 19nth century most Irish pipes featured very small bores and finger holes and were pitched well below modern concert pitch. I've always loved them…
Asturias (Leyenda) is a musical work written by the Spanish composer Isaac Albéniz.
The name Asturias (Leyenda) was given to it posthumously by the German publisher Hofmeister, who included it in the 1911 "complete version" of the Suite espa…
From today's sessions "Sugar Rain" A guitar improv inspired by books I am reading once again. This time a wonderfully horrifying trilogy by Paul Parks "The Starbridge Chronicles" where the seasons last for generations and with spring comes death…
This just sort of fell out of my guitar as I was finishing up recording Tuolumne (so it is also in super-weird CGDGAC tuning). And it's named because what caught my eye as I was searching for a name was a bass guitar pick with an eagle on it.
Isaac Asimov imagined the present day's underground transit connected to malls and apartment blocks, extended to a point where no one ever exits to the outside world. Indeed, most of the population cannot leave, as they suffer from extreme agoraphobia…
A demo track for a new Reaktor instrument I'm building codename: Mimetron.
Loop Guitar 1 is a long, flowing, ambient piece. Mellow with a few moments of grit.
Mimetron is a 3 voice sampler that is driven by incoming audio. It has 3 channels…

Nice one mate
This was excellent. One of my many failings is the inability to fingerpick anywhere near as well as this. Well done. ER
