Another rough cut (just to get it together). The lyrics to this little song were written by my father quite some time ago. It's one of my favorite poems, and I hope I do it justice in song.

The title track from my 2007/2008 effort... This little song represents the main reason why I started playing seriously... So I could let my kids know how much they meant to me.
See you in the morning
Watch you in the sunrise
Springtime's in…
The song that really kicked off this second album of 2009.
"In time all the stars will fade away
Our kind won't get to see it anyway
No shine, just endless black between the gray
I won't be going out in that way"
Along with her magnificent harmonizing vocal tracks, Inge sent me one track which was crashed by her 2-year old son Willem. He pretty much takes over the whole operation at about 3:00.
In the background you can hear the original rough vocals…
I'm really thinking of renaming the upcoming "Burning Wood... The Bonfire Sessions" album "Stealing Genius." I write something simple, put down some picking at the beginning, some acoustic guitar and some vocals, and send it off to people with…

Nice speech man!! There are actually so many good songs it's hard to figure out where to start...every artist I click on had a pile of good tracks. If nothing else maybe we can all post some fav's to the forums and find even more amazing tracks we missed.

Thank you so much M.T.C. Music award committee for recognizing such a relatively simple acoustic track from such a relatively simple person... (puts hand over mic to ask presenter, "Are you sure I really won this... Did you read the wrong name?")...
I'd like to thank my new laptop for not crashing during the 2011 RPM process, and not developing an editing mind of it's own as the last one had. I'd also like to thank time, seeing as how I needed so friggin' much of it to get the fingerpicked portions of this song eventually done right.
A big thank you to the inspiration for the songs, my always-ready-to-go-no-matter-how-absurdly-cold-it-is daughters. And a special thank you to my beautiful (and extremely tolerant) wife Kimberly for taking these same terrific daughters off my hands during my February vacation (sorry, Florida, for the pink invasion).
Where's the after party!

This is a great track, and Williems inclusion adds to the lighthearted nature of the song :) agree with MTC's comment about having it as a hidden track
Sitting around in my shop a couple of days ago with the Goodall and the Zoom H4N. First time I've really messed with using the internal mics on the H4N in multitrack mode
A cover of KLandry's 2010 RPM Challenge song, Fire Dancer, lyrics below:
Time to feed the fire
Throw another pallet on
Get it burning higher
The night’s still young
I love to watch you dancing
Your silhouette against the blaze

Great songwriting, just a terrific use of a phrase that baseball-fan newspaper-reading kids like me used to see. As one sportscaster once said... "He's listed as day-to-day... Well, aren't we all?"
Hey Colin,
I'll be doing a ridiculous amount of downloading once I remove all the useless commercial musical crap from my iTunes. This track is outstanding. Man, what is in the water in Liverpool to create such great musicians, and can we please start bottling it and drinking it over here.
Contains language.
This, or at least the second part of it, was originally going to form part of a comedy opera I would never have finished in a million years. Couldn't resist putting it on here.
I don't normally write out my lyrics, but…
A little something I recorded on a Zoom H4n, acoustic was recorded from built in condensors, strat was recorded plugged into bottom jack using only onboard effects, mixed in Reaper and mastered in Soundforge.
Cave Street posted a track recently, their contribution to the Woody Guthrie Project, organised by Akron Family.

I wanted to take a shot at this too, so here's my demo. It was really just half…
Inspired by a series of springs in the Hill Country, that are said to be so full of life that you can even see the ghosts. Or if you know the right time, the hummingbirds. A recent composition using samples and FS1R.
Haitian rhythm bed with kalimba and Ney and synthflute. Rejected for its original purpose as being 'too jazzy' ;)
The rhythmns and kalimba were old favorites that I had not adapted to anything. Added flute and textures for a website project…

Veeerrrrry nice. Who needs the radio... I'll just be coming over to listen to Kirk on a daily basis.
Just coming on by to hear this incredible song in its perfect original form.
Glad you like it... You should go listen to the original if you haven't had a chance yet.
Love it! Glad ypu like the song enough to cover it!!! So cool to hear it with the electric.
All right... Great cover!
Great little ditty! I may need to learn to play this one.

Man, great version!!!
This is a verrrrrry good un.
Just great stuff.
Great track... As you might guess, I'm a big fan of well-played guitar!
Can't help but smile listening to this!
If I was, then you were definitely Woody in a previous life!!! This is great (like all your other stuff)
Another really great listen... I'll be tuning from time to time when I get the chance!
Very cool. I'm always impressed by ambient productions and layered instrumentation. Great listening!
Great sound!!! I will be listening a lot.
This is hysterical... and brilliantly demented!!! I love it!
