Started off with me just goofing around with Battery and a couple of other NI things (which are new to me) and grew into this...
It may still have places to go.
Another experiment. The name comes from the fact that I was in the woods; not because I was really concerned about making woodsy sounds...
Thanks again to glu and Chris McGrath for opening my eyes to some different Live tricks...
Some experimentation that started with sandbags saying that he was looking for a wood sound. I responded with marimba plus monster reverb... and I quickly noodled together an ambient thing.
I wondered aloud whether I was done or should continue…

A big shout out to Sandbags making this track possible (with his fabulous creation [Elysium](http://lucidmac.com/products/elysium/)).
[Slightly more information](http://mmi-music.blogspot.com/2008/11/glockenfunmachine.html) on how I created…
Okay so here it is, this is the blues piano piece I've been learning since **forever**. Tonight is the first time I've been able to play it through, twice, without making some kind of mistake.
That said I had to slow to 80bpm which is too slow…
24-hour album.
This album is a collage of several disconnected pieces recorded & mixed over 18 hours or so.
I've left it as a single long track, but here's a sort of navigational guide if you want to skip around:
0:00 - 1:30 = Living…
ok, volume is fixed, and the title too. Maybe soon I will mix it better or perhaps just move on to better things. Thanks to those who gave excellent advice on previous version.
and the #2 version has been deleted (actually this is #2).
itunes->preferences->playback->Sound Check
is the thing that is taking the quiet mp3 from garageband and upping the volume (it's probably normalizing; meaning it scans the file for the loudest part of the wave and adjusts the volume such that that loudest bit is at 0dB - or some other set loudness)
Little known thing in Garageband... Track->Show Master Track

Congrats on the audio interface.
Of all the days I had to get up super early, it happened to fall on the first day of spring. Also known as (fingers crossed) the worst day of spring.
I spent part of the early morning digging my car out from underneath the ice and snow. Later…
these 2 "new" songs are a test to see if I now have what I need to successfully upload material. These 2 songs were recorded 20 years ago on a Tascam 4-track. The band is the Riptiles.

til our knees left bloodstains on the ground
licked our wounds and the pain went away
fell asleep at the end of a day
we dug holes and carved signs into trees

I don't normally repeat myself, but when I sat down tonight…
Just messing around with voices and Yottskry. Here I am using it in Live and feeding 3 different vocal clips at a time. It's pretty slow getting going but I think it rewards (for some value of 'reward') listening all the way through.
I was…
I just finished reading Citizen Vince by Jess Walter and at one point in it the protagonist meditates a little on hearing people speak without listening... nevermind, my brain is just connecting this track with the musings of that character.
Today sucked.
I had been working on a longer post to explain it. But I'll basically just sum it up as follows [*ed. note:* consider that this was the *shorter* version. Haha]:
* I live in a part of town where noisy neighbors are a problem…
This composition is a remix/reincarnation of a [previous tune](http://alonetone.com/gcd/tracks/seven-flavors-of-milk) I wrote a while back. I wasn't ever quite satisfied with it and had neglected to incorporate a nifty additional bit of melodic…
My first serious/non-serious effort on the [Everyday Looper iPhone app](http://www.mancingdolecules.com/everyday-looper/).
Stats:
* 100% recorded through the iPhone
* probably 95% iPhone headset mic, 5% internal mic
* 98% my voice, 2% my piano…
Hmm. I guess I'm not a Husker Du superfan cause I don't get the nod (all over Bob Mould's solo stuff but that's another thing).
Regardless, lovely piece.
Comments on mmi's stuff
This is one of my favorite on Alonetone. Music elemental. Very good and precise.
nice beat, nice guitars...
Been listening and like this....
Very good. I get a jungle feel more than forest, because it has a vaguely tribal beat. Check out my tune with the same title.
love this, really nice and atmospheric!
very cruisy lol i can see some g's poppin caps to this man
Atmospheric and crunchy. Forgive me for this, but it's like discovering a really brilliant new flavour of crisps whilst being slightly terrified.
nice song & total feeling, nice backround sounds
Nice futzing! Enjoyed it very much!
Well glu nicked all the good stuff with the hint of jazz and Lost Highways references. I can't compete with that! But I enjoyed it none the less :)
you hammered it! Dark, with a hint of jazz; reminds me of something from the soundtrack to Lost Highways. Way to futz it up!
Love it! COOKIN' SAUCE! COOKIN' SAUCE!
Great tune, really like the way you mixed it as well!
Yeah- great beat. Like it!
Lovely swirly textures, we like :)
ooh! Love the beat! nice warping sound at 02:20! I want to hear more!
Oh My- This is just gorgeous!
Wow- never heard this one of your- great stuff!
Oh this is very interesting...I like the buildup and the guitar layers weaving in and out of the rhythms especially...
Dreamy and peaceful...moody in places.. Very good.

Anybody that feels that "it's too late" to learn an instrument only needs to look (and listen) here. You should be proud.
Yeah, keep on it. Good fun.
I'm 18 minutes in and in awe. Gold star!

Jean Michel Jarre, eat your heart out.
beautiful (I'm trying not to scare off the birds)
Man I'd like to sit it with your band sometime.
Clearly things are very good in Valles Marineris...
Very very nice.
Was a beautiful tune the first time. Something about this version, though, I'm finding deeply moving.

Today may have sucked but your musical output was just fine.
nice! can't wait to hear how you incorporate these ideas into your show :-)
Really digging on this.
Muy awesome!
Haha, well done! Silly fun that brightened my morning.

The most charming breakdown ever :-)
To paraphrase Sister: *Waves glowstick side to side*
Dig it! A little like Warm Leatherette as realized by Brainiac.
