Too Straight (acoustic gtr/vocal demo)
July 11 - Skirmish. A mix of autobiographical and made-up stuff to the prompt “Too Straight”
VERSE:
My mama told me
Make sure to get an education
Something to fall back on
But I didn’t listen
So life’s been a bumpy road
Many paths I’ve been upon
Disappointed my dad
He wanted nothin’ to do with me
For ten long years
But then he came around
Realized I had my own path
And my own fears
CHORUS:
Too Straight
Life’s not meant to be lived
From Point A to Point B
Too Straight
I never want to be that way
There’s so much to do and see
Too Straight
That would’ve been the safe play
But not the one meant for me
Too Straight
Happy I’ve gone the other way
Relaxed and carefree
VERSE:
I’ve been a dishwasher
A cook and a soldier
Even a delivery man
That never defined me
I loved all those experiences
They’ve made me who I am
Lived in many places
New York, Kansas City
Miami, Berlin
Too many to mention
Each one was special
And a new place to begin
CHORUS:
Too Straight
Life’s not meant to be lived
From Point A to Point B
Too Straight
I never want to be that way
There’s so much to do and see
Too Straight
That would’ve been the safe play
But not the one meant for me
Too Straight
Happy I’ve gone the other way
Relaxed and carefree
