Norm played the percussion first, which is a Bembe pattern; I couldnt help playing a melody and creating lyrics for this perc track. Thanks for the listen, Enjoy!

I did the guitar and bass tracks first, then procured my 10 year olds cello for the main bass line :) I also tried my luck playing cello with a bow on this track- which was a new experience.

Fire? Check.
Snow shovel? Well, check (if I must - but I get to punt on one too, right?)
Make music? Check. Congas tuned and awaiting their beating.
EWABS? Check. Ready for a blizzard.
Thanks for the 4 suggestions... although Monk has a nice addition. We are booked to get mucho snow tomorrow so I'll hopefully have an excuse to stay home and get something really important accomplished for a change, ELM or not.

My first attempt at a Blumlein or Mid/Side recording. This one is actually a mid/side recording as I used a directional mic in combo with a figure 8 ribbon mic set at 90 degrees from the main mic. Thanks to Pat Broaders for the loan of the ribbon…

Words and Music By Tharek Mokbul
These Good Times,
In this Old Life

Recorded in Sonoma after seeing Les Claypool perform at a small club in Sebastopol. Inspired by his awesomeness, I recorded this all day Nov 27th 2009 thanksgiving day.
A cool blend from Electronica to Rockin' Primus vibes.

A layered improvisation on a M-Audio 88es

"High Life" is a musical genre that originated in Ghana in the 1900s and spread to Sierra Leone, Nigeria and other West African countries by 1920. My friends from that part of the world consider this be the "go-to" rhythm for just about anything…
the recording on this one is exceptionally good. I think you may have perfected the perc mic up over this last year. is there a hint of reverb?
Nice one, really warm malaria-like sound

HYSTERIA
poem by: T.S. Eliot (1888-1965)
As she laughed I was aware of becoming involved
in her laughter and being part of it, until her
teeth were only accidental stars with a talent
for squad-drill. I was drawn in by short gasps…
A 3 track improvisation on 7 congas roughly tuned by ear to a chromatic scale.
LYRICS:
I walked a mile with Pleasure;
She chatted all the way;
But left me none the wiser
For all she had to say.
I walked a mile with Sorrow,
