Anything that has the title, "Desert Sunset", has me right away. I miss them deeply. The music delivers what the title suggests. I will be returning to listen, repeadtedly. On, the song you commented on "This Strange Parade", you were right, it was over 40mbs, perhaps that's why the music was cut off at the end, and the chorus just goes for a stroll naked, so to speak- it was just cut at 40mb's. Thanks for your knid comments by the way. Dan Gipson
So question for you.. how did you record the piano for this album?
And I realized later that you hadn't specifically asked what I was using on one of my piano songs.. so to answer your earlier question: It was Reason+Record for that song, with "built-in" sounds as well some refills (notably the Reason Pianos that I mentioned).
Lovely!
To answer your question... currently I'm using the Reason pianos refill. I've also used NI's Akoustik, Ableton Live Suite's grand piano, and an Alesis QS7 in reverse chronological order. :)
hello again friend,, a major story begins...? as i have said prior your story telling is wonderful, i also find it very picturesque, your words create images, imagery, that is quite strong, like the pieces you make and share,,, take care R
This is finger picked (quasi – classical guitar) improvisation with my wife’s Seagull acoustic guitar with Dean Markley soundhole pick up and AKG microphone with mastering.
Fathers Day on Sunday....
Thought I'd write a song for my son.
Here you go lad...
As the Sun shines....Lyrics
And my boy.....
You Smile so wide as the sun shines.
But you will keep your joy as the clouds try,
to stop our light…
such a beautiful journey is parenthood, sometimes the toughest of we can ever do,,both wonderful and tough, because of the love we feel,,,, as a fellow traveler on this same road for the past 23 years, i wish you joy, strength, and courage,, this is a fine song,,, R
really nice,, listening to this in headphones i can almost feel/see the bending/vibrating of the drum skin,, your recordings are very rich it's kind of neat because on one hand,, one might think it's just a simple drum,, but as i listen i always hear so many sound textures/timbre from the way different parts of you hands touch/hit to the different parts of the drum being hit , it's a very rich experience, and that's not even mentioning the wonderful rhythms you show us,,,drums are a very sensual sound,,, very nicely done,,i always look forward to hearing from you Richard
It was a sketch for the final topic of amateur black and white film (a.k.a. "Ñlosing credits"), then not used, then forgotten. Then recalled and now free.

'Tis the gift to be simple, 'tis the gift to be free
'Tis the gift to come down where we ought to be,
And when we find ourselves in the place just right,
'Twill be in the valley of love and delight.
When true simplicity is gain'd,

how cool Chris,, one of my life long favorites,, a piece that i have constantly arranged and played on a variety of instruments throughout my life,, tis truly a gift fun to hear,,, R
A composition for 3 piece jazz band, tenor sax, fretless bass, and drums in 14 equal divisions of the octave and 5/4 time. This was realized using Garritan Jazz and Big Band sample set and Sonar X1.
Home made cannon in Just Intonation, cymbals struck by hand and bowed. (I don't own so many cymbals - I made a field recording while walking through the cymbal room at Sam Ash. A most exciting experience actually!) I did buy two cheap cymbals…
The B side to Dad's father's day present. This is an instrumental celebration of his 45 years in the printing industry, and an acknowledgement that while other kids got bedtime stories, I got the history of lithography..

In 2009 I ran an internet contest where contestants had to use one or more of the samples provided in their piece. Here I put together a number of the samples I provided into one piece.

Dig this one! The polyrhythms (if that's the term) really give me the sense of rain falling, too.
