2024 50/90 Challenge idea number 33 becomes finished song number 22.

I am kind of a sucker for hyperactive songs in 7/8 time and this is a good example. I wrote the bass part first and sort of expected that I would not be able to play the guitar part I had in mind. It turned out to not be an issue, but singing the melody? Yeah, that was a painful experience. I got there without having to dumb anything down though, so that was a nice feeling.

All of the guitar parts are the same guitar and amps. They are my Les Paul Standard through my Fender Bassbreaker 15 and my Vox MV50 Clean, both running direct outputs with their cabinet emulations turned on. The pedals for the rhythm tracks are an Earthquaker Devices The Depths into a Klon KTR into an Analogman King of tone. The leads used an MXR Phase 95 into a Wren and Cuff Tall Font Russian into the Klon KTR into a Seymour Duncan Vapor Trails.

Chorus
Don’t tell me what to do
Don’t tell me what to reason
The story is not true
it changes with the season

Verse 1 & 3
I used to know a way
to make it through the day
It all came crashing down
it died without a sound

Verse 2
No mystery is solved
No path left to evolve
Lead down the final road
It’s going to explode

Bridge
Lay me down
Lay me down

Saved!
