@ Beth: Well, since you had to ask! Yes, the percussion here is very nice: I would classify this not as Bossanova (a Brazilian pattern built upon Samba type rhythms). To my ear, this is afro-cuban and would be in the "Son" (aka Salsa) family, in which the "2" is the primary accent. There are a variety of patterns in this family, differing primarily in tempo:
Bolero; Guajira<104; Danzón = 104-132; Cha-Cha = 108-126; Son = 122-224; Son Montuno = 184-216; Mambo = 224-264.

This is an experiment where I slowed down Norm Harris’ percussion track “7th Son†http://alonetone.com/norm/tracks/7th-son and slowed it down by a factor of five and ran it through effects and such – and then played along with my 17…
love the sound of the slowed percussion each beat seems to shake...sounds like musical devastation the twisted sounds in the silence after something major just happened...an earthquake or Tornado...with a man in a Pink Tuxedo running around crazed in the wreckage looking for his lost Bride.......
This solo studio dub jam was created and recorded in about 8 hours of play time one day. As usual, it starts with a simple drum machine track, then fretless bass, then keys, guitar, then a Balinese kecak drum and a tbilat drum and finally melodica…
Here is the solo dance version. It's rockin' pretty hard. I'm hoping to take this into a band setting at some point and get some brass involved, but for now...
