Ring of Fire - lyrics by Johnny Cash and June Carter Cash -1963. Slightly modified.

This wasn’t meant to be Ring of Fire but that’s how it wound up.
I have been wanting to trash Ring of Fire and the words just seem to fit this simple 1-4-5 originally written for another endless project I’m on.
My lady likes it. It’s rare that she likes anything I do musically.
She thought it was Wall of Voodoo. :) So I figure, if she likes it, it must be OK to upload.

When I die, Johnny Cash will be one of my greeters. He’s gonna make me wear pastel golf pants for doing this. I just know it.

Love is a burning thing
and it makes a fiery ring
I was bound by a wild desire
I fell in to a ring of fire

I fell in to a burning ring of fire
I went down down down and
the flames got higher
It burns burns burns
the ring of fire

The taste of love is sweet
when hearts like ours meet
I fell for you like a child
oh, but the fire went wild

I fell in to a burning ring of fire

As a long time Johnny Cash fan I have to say thank you for doing this song justice. You definitely made it your own and put a very nice twist on it.

This is great, man. Brings out the truly sinister side that always lurks beneath Cash tunes!

I am very sure neither Johnny or June ever envisioned their song done like this! Love the re-interpretation. ER

Wall of Voodoo's version was much more alt pop than this! But I think everyone should do it THIS way from now on!

The verses work absolutely perfectly... it sounds like it was a little harder to make the refrain fit... but as this wasn't really supposed to be Ring of Fire in the first place that's OK. I can imagine this getting even more over-the-top... when Jess gets out to Seattle one of us will have to learn metal-style guitar...

You've got some "band" there Paul. Great sound, and nothing like the original. I shall be humming this all day.
