It's a great song, Alex. And gets better with repeated listenings. It's in there with some other songs i am particularly listening to on my iPod and (rather than the usual - "damn i'm supposed to be doing something for this") I am blown away by how straightforwardly great it is. You might think there's a 'cheese' factor but it's well written, direct and clear. Bravo.
The B side to Dad's father's day present. This is an instrumental celebration of his 45 years in the printing industry, and an acknowledgement that while other kids got bedtime stories, I got the history of lithography..
Fathers often find ways of giving a part of themselves to their sons, and they do so in ways that can be baffling to the sons. Perhaps your father was doing that.
My dad was an engineer and a private pilot. He never told me a bedtime story, but he took my brother and me flying as often as he could. It was his way of showing his love.
Nice song, too.

Fantastically touching tribute - personal, tender, professional...
Less interestingly, this is probably my favourite of your songs (okay, apart from Calligraphy!!).

My take on Gumbo's Keep Your Eye On The Spot, one of many excellent tracks from his RPM2011 album 'Cat's Moustache'. It's something of a departure from the original, though I was trying to retain an element of the gospel so hopefully its soul…
RPM 2011 number 2. Inspired by an ex-friend of mine who had the most dazzling rose tinted glasses. Always used to envy the simplicity of his view and how nothing could ever get to him (everything gets to me).. since i knew him I know a lot of…
This song is sort of about making a clean break, killing off the lead character in your story and burying him along with all his sins before the inevitable happens, and the bad guy gets his. Initially came from a jam with my mate Ben Price who…
This is a song about finding momentary escape from the pain of loss.. and having it interrupted by the realisation that it's the anniversary of the day it all started;
Some days I get up
and I go to the park
and I sit in the dark
and I think…

HEAR MY FINAL SONG
Most were drinkin', four were playin' cards
Two were dancin', one he played guitar
He was singin' how she broke his heart
Some were smokin', smoke rings filled the air
One was flirtin', playin' with her hair
He was…

way to go
great escape
such a clever girl you are
made the grade
change the course
all because of what she said
climb up the ladder
release the lion trapped inside
all our thoughts…
from the album 'ZERO'
featuring Tess Savigear on vocals
as you wish said the boy
to the girl with the sparkling eyes
so it goes, so they say
he was taken from her that day
and her deep blue eyes went silent
just another sad tale, so sorry…
Really all comes together here. Better of a song, awe inspiring vocal delivery, perfectly measured production. The outcome is incredibly moving. As much as I adore eternity (and I do) I think this just pips it for me as my favourite Tess flavoured one. Esp. The emotional ending. Contender for fav Angie fights crime song ever

wait a day
might as well stay, awhile
here with me
where the breeze, blows
just say now
time grows shorter
then we dream
awake a scream, out loud
leaving leaves a hole
kicks around…
from the album "ZERO"
featuring Meg Radley with Tess Savigear on vocals
tic, of the clock marches forward
wait, for the bell to chime noon
patience, I can't tell when it's coming
think, that it has to be soon
wasting all my time counting…
Megs voice is a real find for me. Absolutely love the tone.. And this song really really suits it. Hope to hear lots more of this voice. Got bits of nico.. I think that's what I pick up. So beautiful set against teases voice. Such a beautiful song Brent. Incredible

seems like I felt this way before
but my memory is not to be trusted
so many things flashing through my brain
was it real or a dream or something else
you're staring at me like a criminal…

There's colors on the street -- Red, white and blue
People shufflin' their feet -- People sleepin' in their shoes

There's a lot…

I have loved this song for eons. Any time I've found myself in a cover band I've tried to get it into the set list but I have never once succeeded.
