Oh baby let me take you
To that screen-saver dawn
To Hallmark scenes
On a snowy winter’s morn
You can’t do this on your own
You can’t do this on your own
Oh baby let me take you.
Oh baby let me take you
Out to the windy cliff

Redwood falling
Babies bawling

Another child missing
Black snake hissing
Radio squawking
Searchers walking
Media stalking
Everybody talking
Mother in ruins
What’s black snake doing?

I got a call from Russell
He had to move his Junk
He'd filled his car
He'd filled his trunk
Big black bags of Something
I said, "What's with these?"
He said…

James, thank you SOOOO much for this song! This one fits your voice so well and I feel I got to go there with you. This is a keeper! Thank you...there may be a haiku soon ;) Can I post this with my haiku if I do and of course make sure you are credited...the inspiration will be there...also love that rift that was so unusual...wasn't expecting it, but really layered the song!!! Thanks!!

I found this one while I was digging through the shoe-box for the 1994 songs. Apparently I wrote it on 10th November 1995.
Foolishly, I thought it would only take a week or so to record... I was originally expecting…
I wrote this one in response to a song writing challenge from the Minnesota Association of Songwriters. The title had to be Mississippi Moon and it had to have a I V VI I II chord progression somewhere in the song. Over 20 writers have signed…
Oh yeah, a lovely song and perfectly performed. Nothing overdone, no smoke and mirrors just a lovely vocal and accompanied plaintively. Nice lyrics too. BTW, I love that expression "swung for the fences"
Finally, at last... I've got something finished...
Been working on this for a few weeks.
A bit of a rocker... (and an aging lecherous one at that)
I got it as close as I could and then mixed it loud... I've over-cooked it slightly - but…
Oh yeah. Great rocker and what fantastic vocal work. Love those guitars and I love the lecherous lyrics. Does not sound over-cooked to me, Andy; in fact it sounds bloody great with just the right amount of limiting.

Here's the very latest from the broom-cupboard.
I wrote it one dark night over 23 years ago.

I wasn't even sure the recording machine was still going to work after nearly five years... Certainly, bits of me don't work anymore... But, surprisingly, I got this done in 24 hours, start to finish... Strange old world…
I wrote this thing in 1994. When I played it to some friends back then they went "yeah, but where's the rest of it?"
I've been struggling with that concept ever since. Then, a while ago, a couple of kindly souls removed that worry from me…
Next in the little pile of songs from the shoe-box. This one has the date 27th January 1994 written on it, but it's describing an episode from many years earlier when I was, I'm guessing, something like 12 or 13 years old.
I had to go to a…

This is more of a description than a song. It's my contribution to the Minnesota Homebrew Radio Show monthly song writing challenge: "Write a song about your first car."
I've disappeared into a total rabbit hole with these 70s/80s synths. This one features the ARP2600 (in several guises), the Jupiter 8, Prophet 5 and the Fairlight (what a machine that was back in the day!)
This started in my head as another…
