2010 RPM Challenge
i like this a lot. the first thing that comes to mind is nostalgia. the loops are very well put together, i found myself just staring off into the middle distance, pushed into some emotions unintentionally by the guidance of this track.
you have a very nice style.
by any chance do you listen to bibio?
This is the first tune for my 2010 RPM Challenge.
A bit short...my first attempt earlier in the evening (completely different tune) I ended up scrapping at 1:30 a.m., so this one was done in just a few minutes...
Written and Recorded: Feb…
triple favourite!!! man i love this. reminds me of something. not sure what but its kick ass. RPM seems to be going really well for people this year.. not me yet unfortunately!! Good luck with the rest doug!
Thanks, I appreciate the comment...I'm so over due on another recording. Glad you commented it, at least it got me back to alonetone for some listening.
This is my 12 hour song (written, recorded, mixed, mastered) ... I pined away all day at it while a storm kept me company.
instrumentation:
a man lost his house and sold me his fretless bass for next to nothing. a family friend gave me…
close your eyes and imagine a glu concert-- what does it look like? describe this fake show to me... what would you want to see?
Oh, almost forgot. Many sounds, like these pretty cellos were found on freesound. I did manipulate the pitch on…
A moody solo acoustic thing that I came up with playing in a long forgotten tuning. Just got a new Zoom H4N, so this was recorded in my shop sitting at my reedmaking bench may 12 2009
Rough sketch of a proposed dreamy 12 string piece that I couldn't pull off on the 12 string so did this quick electric version with vocal pads. Not sure of the recording quality- sounds OK in my cans and kinda crappy on my monitors. Recorded march…
@Kirk - Yeah, some little things - my setup is cheap and low tech, but I played with some levels.
@VIVIAN CIRCLE - Thanks for the kind words. I'm enjoying the challenge, but wish I had more time to record and to listen to alonetoners....
My second tune for 2009 RPM Challenge.
Recorded: Feb 01, 2009
Details: Epiphone Les Paul (EBEGAD - capo II), Seymour Duncan Pickups, POD XT, Boss RC-20 Looper, EBow, Audacity, Sound Forge.
@another cultural landslide - yeah, I'm in for RPM, though I've only posted here so far. My RPM page: http://www.rpmchallenge.com/component/option,com_comprofiler/task,userProfile/user,5357/Itemid,296/
Turquoise is for memory to you about me.
Turquoise is as my eyes,
you will see heaven in them,
you will sink in them for ever...
This song is about love, about leaving.

Gorgeous.
Loverly, Doug! Nice tone on that guitar.
Another lovely one! Looking forward to the next.
Dig all of the guitar layers going on in this one!
What a lovely track. Beautiful, strong and unspoilt, bit like Finisterre really.
There is a very pretty melody inside here.
Beautiful!
Yeah, I'd have trouble sleeping too with musical ideas like this.
Interesting sounds Doug. Colorful.
Woah, makes me think of a masqued ball, opium, and sooth sayers.
Pretty wacky stuff there man! Fun
I think if you pulled that off key flanger type effect back into key or normal after 30 secs or so it would be better.
Very cool mate nice one
Cool track!
Yes, very thought-provoking. Looking forward to your album!
Nice one man! Love those ebow melodies that come in near the end
*Love* it.
More great ambience, Doug. Almost trance inducing, recalls visions of hazy memories.

wow, that's cool...great instrumentation, very enjoyable to get lost in pure listening.
Nice...I've been away from alonetone wa too long.
Sweet, sweet track...
another beauty, Kirk!
Nice one Kirk...I'd like to hear that on the 12-string.
Nice....love the slide.

Lovely tune - BTW, my entire rpm challenge ("Nothing Will Break Our Will To Be Free") is a memorial/dedication to Gaza.
Nice sounds - I need one of those things...
Yeah!
Beautiful...
This is gorgeous - sorry I haven't had time to listen to your stuff earlier...
Some really cool sounds...very intriguing.
I love this stuff...you make me wanna play some guitar, man!
oh, yeah, that's cool...love when the picking kicks in.
