2010 RPM Challenge
i like this a lot. the first thing that comes to mind is nostalgia. the loops are very well put together, i found myself just staring off into the middle distance, pushed into some emotions unintentionally by the guidance of this track.
you have a very nice style.
by any chance do you listen to bibio?
This is the first tune for my 2010 RPM Challenge.
A bit short...my first attempt earlier in the evening (completely different tune) I ended up scrapping at 1:30 a.m., so this one was done in just a few minutes...
Written and Recorded: Feb…
triple favourite!!! man i love this. reminds me of something. not sure what but its kick ass. RPM seems to be going really well for people this year.. not me yet unfortunately!! Good luck with the rest doug!
I excel at disappearing for long stretches, eh?
I think with this I'm officially committing to doing FAWM.
And R.I.P. my songwriting drought. August 27th, 2009 - February 1st, 2010.
If that's what it takes to come up with some this nice, then I guess a few long stretches are ok, eh? Man, Nice...I love solo piano and this one's just lovely.
A moody solo acoustic thing that I came up with playing in a long forgotten tuning. Just got a new Zoom H4N, so this was recorded in my shop sitting at my reedmaking bench may 12 2009
Sitting around in my shop a couple of days ago with the Goodall and the Zoom H4N. First time I've really messed with using the internal mics on the H4N in multitrack mode
You call that noodling around? That's some mighty fine noodling, Mr. Lynch...and yeah, DADGAD never gets old, though I still have a love for EBEGAD too.

Our sun is in a long, cool, quiet period right now. But average ocean temps are the highest ever, and polar ice and glaciers are melting at an alarming rate. Something is going on here.
Man, that's cool. Curious what apps you're using? I've been buying a bunch of music apps for my iPhone but I never seem to get around to using them. I was gonna try and do a "CDs" worth of iPhone app music at some point.
So one too many coffee's and I have insomnia, I decided to mess about with my prototype sequencer Rytme and one of the Logic piano presets (Piano Motion).
I came up with this piece (in the key of A Major) which is rather repetitive (a quality…
Several years ago I had a short lived duo with an oboe and English horn player named Nat. This is a demo from that period. It's an old old chord progression of mine that never really had a melody and Nat improvised this melody in the studio to…
Sweet - glad to see you digging things up from the archives. I seem to remember you had that duo...unless it was pre-1990 or whenever it was we first met.
Experimenting with my piano/keyboard skillz and a first attempt at record clapping. Needs a good go over with some quality drums and some better arranging. Everything sounds very "synthy" on account of I don't have any quality VSTi at the moment.
This is one of my first ambient tracks, and it's been made up largely of sounds I've captured on a handheld recorder over the last five or so years.
Dark, and more than a little creepy.
This is maybe the first track written entirely by This Caustic Autumn as a group effort. I'd been to see Sigur Ros play at Massey Hall in Toronto the night before we wrote this, so that's where the idea for the bowed Les Paul came from. Other…
From the archives. Traditional Irish slow air. Myself on the Uilleann pipes with synth backing. This was recorded at a concert here in Weston back in I think '92. Originally recorded on an ancient 4 track machine and then transferred to cassette…
Comments on dougsparling's stuff
Gorgeous.
Loverly, Doug! Nice tone on that guitar.
Another lovely one! Looking forward to the next.
Dig all of the guitar layers going on in this one!
What a lovely track. Beautiful, strong and unspoilt, bit like Finisterre really.
There is a very pretty melody inside here.
Beautiful!
Yeah, I'd have trouble sleeping too with musical ideas like this.
Interesting sounds Doug. Colorful.
Woah, makes me think of a masqued ball, opium, and sooth sayers.
Pretty wacky stuff there man! Fun
I think if you pulled that off key flanger type effect back into key or normal after 30 secs or so it would be better.
Very cool mate nice one
Cool track!
Yes, very thought-provoking. Looking forward to your album!
Nice one man! Love those ebow melodies that come in near the end
*Love* it.
More great ambience, Doug. Almost trance inducing, recalls visions of hazy memories.

Nice start for RPM - great tune, Kavin. Instrumental guitar album, fancy that!
Ah, just what I needed, a little inspiration. You're amazing Mr. Lynch.

Nice one man, stunning...
Love this one, man. Note to self, improve my recording technique so that sound at least half this good...
Great sounds...
Catching up on my alonetone listening. Gorgeous track, the right amount of everything.

That's a whole lot of awesomeness...
Stunning...wow, love this one.
Just discovered this through Kavin's list...wow, this is a great track. ACL had it right - sublime.
Beautiful piece of music, that...
I missed this one...love the guitars. Nice, nice, nice.
Nice one man. I always loved this tune...and I was probably there at the concert.
